Thought this would be an interesting topic. So...what ski areas do you think offer the best views. My top three would be:

1 - Wildcat: Never been, but pics I've seen are truly impressive. I need to try to get up there.
2 - Bretton Woods: Mount Washington and the Presis "across the street". How can you get better than that?
3 - Loon: The view up into the Pemi and of Franconia Ridge is awesome. Big George is visible too on a clear day.

Honarble mentions:

Jiminy Peak - great views for a smaller mountain. The Catskills look sweet on a clear day.
Brodie - great view towards Greylock.
The North Face at Snow - I really love the view towards Somerset Reservoir.

wildcat and cannon. can't think of any other ski areas that wow me with views. i guess i'm spoiled with the views i've gotten from hiking which are better than the views one can get from a ski area. also, with hiking... you're generally in the trees for most of the hike. then you come outta the trees and the difference makes a bigger impression. whereas at ski areas you can always see you surroundings clearly cause you're in the open, so you get used to them. wildcat and cannon are the two ski areas that i've never gotten used to and continue to wow me.

Gotta imagine that Wildcat is the best - never been there in the winter, so can't claim direct knowledge, but it's killer in the summer. The view from Sunday River back towards the Presis is pretty darned impressive, though. And - I always like a view of water from the top of the hill, so Gunstock and Whiteface get votes from me......

I've been to Wildcat, great view. I also like Lincoln peak at the bush.

I had over thirty days between wildcat and cannon last season. Both offer the best in views. There is a little known place called Burke Mtn Vermont. At the summit you look right up the gut of Lake Willoughby, it definely is not the most awe inspiring, but, as you stand atop this beautifully cut mountain alone, with the freshies that fall almost as frequently as at the bush or the glen, and realize that you have numerous tree shots all to yourself... thats the best view around!

Maybe I'll see you there...but probably not...

I thought we already had this thread recently. I'm another one who likes to look out at bodies of water. I haven't been there for skiing but Camden Snow Bowl has an amazing view. Gunstock is also fantastic. Heavenly is my favorite view in the west.

Their are alot of great views. Mt Ellen is very impressive looking north up the spine of the Greens with Camels Hump and Mt Mansfield along the way and the Daks and Lake Champlain to the east.

Bretton Woods with the entire Pres range before you. Although I am not a big fan of Someday Bigger I have to admit the view from the top of the Jordan's Bowl area is pretty nice. Sqauw Peak(Big Moose Mt) view is awesome with Moosehead Lake below, Mt Kineo and Katadin now far away to the northeast.

Views from little ol' Wachusett can be very impressive on clear days because of the flat surrounding terrain.

Monadnock is quite visible and on the clearest of days you can spot Washington and the city limits of Boston.

Got to agree with Wildcat

No doubt any mountain offers a spectacular view from the top but having Mt Washinton so close makes for a most amazing panorama. I got to take a few pics over the weekend of Mt Washington from Attitash and Bretton woods but they pale in comparson to the view from Wildcat.

This page has views of Mt Washington from 3 ski areas, Bretton Woods, Attitash and Sunday River.
