My wife just called to see if I wanted to go skiing at Blue Hills tonight. Sure, it's only 350 feet, but for $30 and 20 minutes away, I had no problem coming out with a "YES".

How skied down can it possibly be one day later?

"Hey Honey, I know I can't ski this year because I just had surgery on my back. However I know that you really want to ski and since this winter sucks so bad, why don't you and your buddy go to Utah for a couple of days to get in some freshies and face shots! I'll stay home and take care of our daughter. I'll also have my mother come over while you're not home so we don't have to go spend a weekend up there to this month"

Okay, I may be paraphrasing a bit, but that's pretty much what my wife said! Naturally, I jumped on that before she could change her mind. I'm leaving on the 24th.

I think my wife's pretty cool too.

She's going, too. Her idea and everything. Well, someone's idea, anyway. not sure if she came up with it on her own. Either way, I'll take it.

That does sound quite nice. I'd love to make some turns tonight after work.

I also have to give my wife kudos...(just don't tell her i'm saying so, otherwise she'll expect it more) She was 3 months pregnant and watched our 3 y.o. daughter while she let me ski a week in Alta last month.

:)

I don't know, IMHO, my wife tops the list.

She drives to/fro skiing nearly every weekend - I don't drive.
She picked up this habit a few years ago, before she'd ever done anything other than occasional XC.
She drives north for 3hrs late Friday night, after a 40hr work week. She also takes 2-3 evening classes a semester. (So, she has max, 2 free nights a week to do coursework)

She actually PREFERS to stay over sunday nights, and drive from NH to work, starting at 5:30 monday morning. (Note: That allows 2 nights minimum of apres ski per weekend...)

She didn't even blink when I let her know I was going out to Colorado for a week with a bunch of friends this winter. Perhaps she understands that her skill/confidence level isn't up to big mountain skiing, perhaps she is just a freaking angel.

Maybe I'll just nominate myself the worst husband ever. Yeah, I think that works too.

  - Cheers to all the incomparable women who make our lives special!

I have a chauffeur as well. But I think its just because my wife hates my driving skills. Amy was the one that brouht me into the sport. I can't believe how I grew up not skiing. Wifey is always down for a trip. She rocks because she kicks my tail down the mountain and makes me want to improve my technique. Nothing like a little healthy competition in a marriage.

No, sorry. Your wife may be terrific, but mine's the best. I might be biased, but she'd rather ski than breathe, so I think she's the best.

OK, mine pretty much rocks as well:

"Honey, I have a meeting in Denver that starts the first Monday in February. Why don't we fly out together and do a few days at Beaver Creek before the meeting starts."

It was an awesome trip; they're having the best snow conditions in years out in Colorado...and well, here in the east...well, you know.......

Well, I'll bet a lot of us married folk on the forum had a similar experience to mine:

My (then girlfriend) didn't ski much, but she was pretty athletic. I took her away skiing a couple of times, and I could tell that she had potential, so, I married her. Once we were married, I took her to Innsbruck for 10 days. I put her in ski school in the mornings, and, by the end of the week, she could ski with me!

So, here we are, 3 kids and 15 years later, she happily agreed to a condo in NH, we ski every weekend, and, when we were at Beaver Creek, we both grinned as we made our way down gorgeous double-black Mogul runs....

So, for all you unmarried folks; it's cool if your beloved is not a skier; just make sure that they have potential.......

My wife is my ski buddy. She introduced me to the sport and I didn't know what I was missing. Now we ski together every weekend and have a great time. She and my daughter are going to Europe for two weeks starting tomorrow so I will be lost without my partner and friend! I will just have to ski extra long and hard to make up for it! Love ya honey!
