Man the guy who wrote the Times Union article isnt biased at all. Sounds like he doesnt want the thing at all, yet doesnt provide any answers to any of his concerns. Great journalism!!!

Ive been hearing alot about this not only in Canton, but all the time while Im at Whiteface. Tupper really needs this development if you ask me, theyre hurting. Everything Ive heard has been that the developer has a good plan in place (I actually heard that he was going to have his own seperate sewer and water systems). These two articles just sound like cries from groups opposed.

Yeah, that guy has a habit of thrusting his opinions into his "news" stories. He's a veritable Lou Dobbs.

I used to love Big Tupper when I was a kid. It really had great, quirky terrain and fun people. I'd love to see it open again. However, I DON'T want to see it become one of those "clubs" where only those who own property have access to the mountain. I don't know if this is what they are planning, in fact I don't know much about the plan at all. All of the proposals I've seen have been (intentionally?) vague.

LeBrun (the columnist) makes a good point, though, when he says that the county shouldn't have to pay for the development to go in. The guy is trying to put in $400,000-$2,500,000 houses, I THINK he might be able to pony up some dough of his own.

You are right about one thing, though. The town does need it. They put up that Museum last year with a lot of fanfare, but not a lot of attendance. The town seems to be going downhill fast and there really doesn't seem to be a bunch of biotech firms or chip manufacturers wanting to open new Tupper Lake locations. It will be interesting to see what happens.

From my understanding it wouldnt be a private club, but rather a new development that has the reopening of the adjacent ski area as its selling point kinda thing.

BIG TUPPER AGAIN ---that'd be sveet!
Ishare your opinions that teh town needs development --however the GREEN lobby is very powerful in THE DACKS and will go full tilt bonkers on this issue as they have in the past .

I personally believe we have "preserved more than enough land to ensure the sacred public trust " for eternity so BRING IT ON . I want to have some more fun days at BT before I die

Forgive me if this was mentioned in the article above, but it was reported on WCAX last night that there is a group suing the Village of Tupper Lake claiming that the, " planning process is flawed and the project is being payed for illegally".

Yes that's right --it was reported locally also.

To clarify my earlier comment While i favor Big Tupper re-opening .I do agree that any developer does need to put up his own $ and meet local codes.

But to have NY state grab any more land up here is also overkill . the tax base NEEDS to be seriously improved.

Its already the largest park in the country no? The area could really use the revitalization.
