Anyone ever ski it? Not much talk of it here, seems the front 4 at stowe get more press/reviews/chatter, but the Blackhole is the only Triple Black in the NE.....I've skiied mostly everything else at Smuggs (Robins Run/Liftline etc) but never the Blackhole...heading up there for 4 days in a few weeks....any reviews?

I've skied it many times, but that was before it was on the map, well kinda like Robins Run. You'll have to hit it up. You mentioned skiing RR so you'll enjoy the BH---it's a good steep tree run---and don't forget about Freefall, one of my fav's too. Haven't been to Smuggs in years, maybe djspooksman could tell us if the BH has been thinned out now that it's on the map. Used to be pretty darn tight in there too.

Tight steep trees. It's fun, but nothing special. I'll take the Back Bowls @ Smuggs anytime.

Funny how the Birthday Bowls kinda get lost compared to Mani----I know obviously Mani gets the traffic so maybe that's why???

guess it depends on the individual. My last winter in Stowe 2000-2001, I started about half my days at the Big Pig to ski them, they're perhaps my favorite thing to ski in the whole valley. Between the long ride up Spruce, skiing down, going to the Smuggs lodge to get a complimentary one up Sterling, skating across the lake and back down to the Spruce base, you're talking over an hour round trip for one run. In my view it was completely worth it, but I was jealous of the Smuggs riders who could run laps on that terrain all day long with ease.

Funny---how "each side" liked the other---I felt the same why about hourglass and hellsbrook. Truly is amazing what that notch offers. In my years up there never hit teardrop into underhill--you??
