Trip Report: So yesterday I figured since I had the day off anyway, I'd head out to Blue to for a few runs and see how much damage the rain did. It was ok overall. It could have been a lot worse. It looked like at some point last night they did get a dusting of snow or sleet. I was in no rush in the AM and didn't get on the mountain until 9:20. Did Lazy/Falls for a warm up. Very solid cord, especially on the Falls runout. Moved over to Paradise. Same frozen cord. The sun was just starting to shine down on the trails, and I decided to give Main Street a try. The top was pretty good, lower not so much. The bumps look like golf balls due to the rain. I would have skied Main Street more, but since the Lower Park was closed, I didn't feel like taking Shuttle all the way to Home Stretch.
Around 10:30 or so I decided to give Razor's a try. Much better then I expected. Challenge was even a little better then Razors, although from the lift it looked worse. Dreamweaver didn't hold up very well and Switchback was a mess. The left side of Falls wasn't groomed at all. Around 12 they tried to groom it and just made it worse. By 1pm Lazy & Paradise were really nice and soft. I must have lapped Lazy 5-6 times in a row. It never got crazy at all yesterday, and I felt like I was skiing great.
Sidewinder Park and Lower Park were closed for grooming. Around 2pm they opened the lower park, so I gave Main Street another spin. It was only ok. Lower Park was incredibly soft...softest trail I skied all day.
The day started out very sunny, but by noon clouds moved in and there was a brief snow flurry. The clouds eventually moved out and by 2:30 it was sunny again.
In the end, I skied for around 5 and a half hours and did a total of 32 runs (34,750 vertical). Close to record breaking day at Blue, and a really fun day. No crowds at all, and could ski right on to the next chair. A great day to just arc 'em and park 'em.:-D
