Hey All,
I'm back from a fun session at Blue mountain the true mountain and my first day skiing there in over 2 weeks. I got out of work at Noon and drove up to Sheetz for gas and nachos. Me and Atomic Jeff discussed carpooling from the Blue mountain drive inn but I ended up meeting him in the lower lot around 12:40PM. A few minutes later Zaldon bringer of death arrived. It was sunny and the temperature was a comfortable 26 degrees with very little wind. We first skied Challenge a few times and it was pretty nice..edgeable hardpack and in the sunshine..then we skied Switchback which was pretty icy and Main Street which was awesome fresh manmade on the top followed by some chunks than good manmade at the bottom. The Lower Park was mad crispy..shout out to Park Crue..what what..
After a few runs Jim joined us..you know the older gentleman in the red one-piece ski suit along followed by EpicSki Bruce. Bruce is a trip without a suitcase and is a major trailwhore but he is entertaining and informative about ski gear. We mainly skied the Eastside of the mountain..Paradise and Dreamweaver were both nice..I was told to slow down and Bruce confronted a ski patroller standing in the middle of the merge between Paradise and Dreamweaver. There were essentially no real liftlines..a few times a 10 chair wait but the liftline organizer was still out a little bit. Razors was closed for the J1 and J2 GS race but reopened around 4PM and we skied two sweet runs on Razors..aside from a few ruts..there was nice smooth snow on the right side and some fresh cord near the bottom..we also got fresh cord on Paradise..Atomic Jeff got out in front and I was right behind him the whole way..I could have gotten a little lower and passed him near the bottom but I didn't want to hurt his ego..
A-Jeff, Zaldon and I skied a total of 21 runs off the 6 pack for a total of 22,050 vertical feet..not bad in about 3.5 hours..we rolled out around 430PM and the temperature was still below freezing which should ensure excellent ski conditions tomorrow morning due to the lack of any crust that a thaw freeze would make..After todays afternoon fun at Blue..I don't even miss Jackson Hole anymore.. I'm looking forward to skiing with alot of PASRs tomorrow morning..I should get there around 7;35ish..Time to eat some Boston Market food washed down with some Long Trail Blackberry wheat..
