Hey All,

I'm back from a fun and snowy session at Blue mountain the true mountain. I took a last minute vacation day and left my apartment at 730AM..it was 21 degrees with a little light snow falling and strong winds. Unfortunately, there was only about 1/2 inch of new snow. On the drive up there was graupel(not to be confused with sleet) and snow. With most schools closed, the roads were empty and it only took me about 5 minutes longer than normal to navigate the 18.2 miles to Blue mountain, the true mountain. When I pulled into the lower lot around 803AM, Atomic Jeffs car was there and Moe Ghoul was in the lot as well. Jeff booted up inside(wimp) while I booted up at the car. I was a 4-layer player and was wearing the Balaclava as well with a base temperature of 18 degrees and strong winds out of north.

Me, Moe and A-Jeff were on the first civilian 6-pack of the day..and it was snowing moderately. We first warmed up on Dreamweaver which had a few pockets with an inch of Poe..then Razors which had been recently groomed and it skied really nicely..Blue was smart to groom Razors before the snow blew off of it. We lapped Razors a few times then headed over to Switchback which was very nice and Lazy Mile which was too flat for the powder and wind. I recognized TTC6 on the chair in front of us and Moe Ghoul introduced himself. He didn't look to be having a very good time on the snowboard since he didn't have poles to push on the flats and said the park sucked...early on yes, but as the snowfall intensity progressed the Sidwinder park yielded alot of pockets of powder with some nice bootdeep drifts on the sides of some of the features and whoop dee dos.

Around 11AM, Moe Ghoul switched to his Coombas and I bought food at Blue for the first time this season and I was impressed. Due to the low crowds, everything was made to order and I had a Ski-LT..which had like 7 strips of bacon on really good Wheat Toast..and it was only $4..and iced tea is still under $2. It seemed like there were more people in the lodge than out on the slopes. Moe Ghoul even had some Dunkin Donut munchkins in his pocket Napoleon Dynamite style...Moe Ghoul is fun to ski with because he's fast and often sings to his IPOD on the lift. I had my headpod on and I was rocking out to some Pink, New Edition and Billy Joel.

After our break, the snow started to taper off..there were still pockets of fresh to be found on Sidewinder, Dreamweaver and Razors..also some really deep snow..maybe 3+ inches..ankle deep on lower lower Paradise..leading to the quad which sat idle. The snow that fell was very light and skied great..yes there is some underlying crust but it was hardly noticeable later in the session. In total I skied 23 runs for 24,150 vertical feet. Then me and A-Jeff drank an ice-cold Long Trail IPA and on the way home, I got first tracks through the BMDI parking lot..since the Blue mountain drive inn is closed on Mondays..JADIP!!!
