Date(s) Skied: 12/18/11

Resort or Ski Area: Blue Mountain

Conditions: Again, pretty darn good (hard pack to push-piles of pow (on top of hard pack ;-))

Trip Report: 3rd day in a row skiing Blue, all in the afternoon so have no idea how the morning shift is, but the afternoons have been pretty good. For today, two runs as usual; Main street or Vista to midway. Hard pack in some areas, but can set an edge everywhere. fringes and the lip on main street had dam good snow actually. They were blowing snow like crazy during the day today (did not see this Friday or Saturday). Hopefully they will have lazy mile open tomorrow. All things considered, they are doing a fantastic job. Be back friday.

Just checked out Blue's website, almost 1,100 ft vert. It's 115 miles from home, same as the Cats. Might have to put Blue on my to-do list, prices seem reasonable. I ski Elk occasionally, and have skied Shawnee once. Shawnee had an impressive terrain park for such a small place. I don't ski them, but it sure looked cool, lots of jumps.

I guess allot would depend on how you rate Elk to the Cats ski areas and how much time you spend on the black diamond vs. blue square runs. In my book Elk is tops in the keystone state, Blue being the one i'd go to when it's better for me to drive ~1.5hours vs. ~2.5, conditions permitting, of course.
