Hey All,
I'm back from another fun session at Blue mountain the true mountain. When I left south Whitehall at 2:50PM, it was snaining but as I got closer to the mountain, it became all snow. The temperature was 32 degrees when I booted up. I first skied Razors edge and it was great creamy wet snow on top of a firm base. There was dense fog on the upper mountain. The snow was very forgiving and I skied Razors edge several more times. I ran into Zaldon at the top and skied with him the rest of my session. Razors was closed down for the race team around 430PM so we hit up Dreamweaver which was very nice. Switchback was a little rougher with some random piles. For a Wednesday, I thought crowds were sort of light and there definitely weren't any liftlines.
The snow changed over to sleet and rain then it changed back to snow and started snowing pretty hard accumulating maybe an inch and a half. Zaldon and I skied Challenge which was pretty choppy, then skied Lazy Mile which was really nice and smooth snow. Then some more Dreamweaver and I skied my last two runs down Lazy Mile. I ended up leaving at 5:45PM and Zaldon was going to continue until he hit 30 runs. On the way home, the roads were greasy and the heavy snow continued until the Weis markets on 145, then it changed to sleet and rain. I just picked up some chinese food in the heart of the A where it was 33 degrees and raining..it's a slushy mess. Hopefully Blue can pull out a few more inches before the changeover..this is a for real storm with strong winds. I might ski Blue tomorrow after work, I'll play it by ear, then Friday I'm off to VT.
