Resort or Ski Area: Blue Mountain Ski Area

Conditions: Groomed, packed and fast, temp in the mid-twenty's

Trip Report: Another great day at Blue Mountain today. Not a death cookie in sight! I missed first chair with GSS and the PASR crew, but I caught up with them for 2nd chair, if such a thing actually exists. Anyway first few runs were down Challenge which was fantastic. Best Challenge has been all year. Then we hit up Lazy Mile and Main Street. Lazy Mile had the best snow on the mountain. Main Street was also the best it's been all year. The bottom 1/3 of the run was a little choppy, but it's usually like that, and it was carve-able. After a few more runs, we went back over to Challenge, but it was past it's prime for the day.

We met up with a bunch more folks and Gorgonzola & GSS were going to take a run down Barney's Bumps. I'm not much of a bump skier, so I went on a head to (try) to get some pics. I got off one shot of each of them before I realized that I've had the camera out in the cold for two days without charging the %^@&ing batteries! Gorgonzola hit the bumps hard and fast. It was a pretty nice run he had going. GSS and I took a run down Burma Road for a change of pace. It was my first run on Burma and the snow there was a nice as Lazy Mile.

Tons of snowmaking going on today. Paradise, Lower Razor's Edge and in the Tubing Area. I guess the "blew the mice out" on Upper Razor's Edge because for about 30 minutes those guns were running.

GSS bailed out around 11 and I hung in there for about another hour. Lazy Mile was full blown Crazy Mile by that point. There was a Barbara Green look-a-like running the lift queue for my last ride in the lift. I decided to go when I realized there were more people sitting along the sides of the trail, then were actually skiing it and Crazy Mile was starting to get a little choppy right before the last right hand turn. No eastern hard pack to be found anywhere today. I left around 12 but I nailed 19 runs for a total of 21020 feet of vertical.

I'll be back on Monday. Here's some pics:

nice morning for sure, did a few runs down challenge before the bmr race team assualt, ran in to some neighborhood mtb guys and their kids and skiid with them before seeing root and gss, our group was 2 6 packs+ for a run or 2. lazy mile was nice before it got to crowded then over to the bumps for a couple, ice between waist high bumps makes for some fun - i almost bit it big time but recovered but couldn't seem to get a speed check so was boucing down them way too fast!
