Which weather condition would you rather ski in? Temperature around 28 degrees, no wind, not a cloud in the sky and you can see forever or temperature around 28 degrees, no wind, and there’s a steady 2 inch an hour snow coming down, vis isn’t good, but you lay down fresh tracks every run.

Tuff call isn’t it?

Depends on where I'm skiing (amount of available terrain) and how crowded it is.

Backcountry... bluebird. Resort skiing, probably steady snow most of the time.

Not a tough call at all...Steady snow..sunshine is over-rated and brings out the masses...Visibility is also over-rated unless you're skiing a new place for the first time or you're somewhere out west with hardly any trees...Vertigo is no fun..

Steady snow, no contest.

Not to say that blue bird isn't nice, but I love snow.

I love skiing during a storm so steady snow here. If, however, the bluebird day was right after a dump, then obviously I would pick the bluebird day.

What if the steady snow day was day 2 of a big dump???

Easily steady snow-no people, lighter powder, tracks fill in. These are the 8:30-4:00 days, I love it when it happens on the midweek. Bluebird days are nice, but its too busy and the snow isn't as good.

Steady snow. There's nothing like the silence when you stop and take a break in the woods and it's dumping all around you. Just a nice peaceful moment in between all the action.

I'll take the storm day...I love the feeling you get sitting on the lift, all hunkered down under your hood, snow accumlating on your thighs as you ride the lift up for another lap in heaven. Everything is quiet...so quiet you can hear the snow landing.

Good post, you made me feel it.
