Cool...will have to tune in tonight. I hope to God I don't have to sit through more figure skating. That's like watching paint dry...with Scottly Hamilton annoying calling the plays. "It's getting dryer....yep....triple sowcow dryer...."

I don't know about anyone else, but I don't care about the spoiler in this case. I was dying to know how he does. No way I could have waited until tonight.

It would have been easy to seek that information out though (www.vancouver2010.com), on the other hand I guess I should have known better that coming here could have lead to accidentally finding out those results and thus not visited the forum today... oh well.

Arrrrrgh! Figure skating is on tonight! I'm going to have to see 25 sow cows for every one run of the DH.

I agree, live would be best of course and i think it is lame also. In this economy (or any economy for that matter) they feel they have to put the best in primetime to get the advertising which this company (at this juncture) needs to survive since they are last. Most people are working and hear on NPR or wherever that so and so won this or that. they say, hey i gotta see that tonight when i get home. The choice they made not to go live is what they have to live with.. but they feel that even if you know you will tune in to see it regardless... in primetime... when the advertising buck is at a premium. money, money, money. sad but that's todays world.

A bumpy ride!Share
So we finally got a DH training run in today which is good news. We had to get at least one training run in before Wed or a race was going to be cancelled. I was definitely anxious to get up to full speed today and test out my shin. During inspection I could see the course was going to be pretty bumpy, but I don't think I was entirely prepared for just how bumpy it was. It was by far the bumpiest course I have ever skied. The good news is although it was really painful my leg held up ok and I won the training run. The bad news is my shin is really sore again. Hopefully after alot of therapy tonight it will feel better in the morning. I already iced once and right now I have the cheese wrap on :). Hopefully with a little help from mother nature the course crews will be able to mellow out some of the roughness it was definitely extreme today. Also just want to say congratulations to the new Olympic DH champion Didier Defago, silver medalist Axel Lund Svindal, and bronze medalist Bode Miller it was impressive to watch good job!

NBC just showed Bode's run.

He looked pretty happy with it.

Svindal's run was very impressive...

It's a shame that through 16 starters, they've only showed three runs.

That sucked.

5 1/2 downhill runs (out of 64).

But I'm sure we'll see every second of every figure skating couple tonight (live no less), along with 20 human interest stories.

F U NBC.

Congrats to Bodie - it's amazing that a few feet separates first from third place

That segment was interesting...how much a 10th of a second is in actual distance. I was half expecting a computer dragon to come into the segement however. "Did you know it would take 20 10ths of a second for a dragon from that movie to fly across the finish line! It's head would win gold....but it's tail would place behind the skier from mexico!"

I'm sure not too many people who saw it could actually appreciate it, but on their Late Night Olympic Show last night, NBC actually had what I would call a GREAT bit about Bode and his run yesterday!. It was Bode, beibng interviewed by 1984 Women's Olympic GS Silver medalist, Christen Cooper, where it was Bode watching his run on TV, and then commenting in real time as he was watching(very technically) about what he was thinking/ where he was looking line wise/turn analysis/snow conditions/ski performance/ etc! Christen Cooper added some great insight/great questioning too as only a former racer could do! Too bad the segment was only 3 or so minutes long and relegated to the late night slot :(

Here's the clip (gotta get past the commercial at the start of it :( )

BTW, I will also say, not that we got to hear him say too many words because of the limited coverage time, but NBC's longtime alpine commentary duo of Tim Ryan and Tod Brooker do a very fine job with their commentary/analysis!
