I get the beer in NH. Cheaper and no deposit. Exception is the hops infusion at the good food store. Ya the old vanishing act. Don't plan on a full meet and greet, but if your around Fall festival weekend stop by Terry. We'll try some of the vanishing act stuff.

I will probably be packing. We are leaving early on the 7th for northern Maine for a moose hunt. Maybe some moose steaks this year? We'll see how it goes!

I read that article and just about choked on my coffee. What a bunch of marketing fluff. If I was playing "Buzzword bingo" I would have won straight out.

Boyne should have had a plan (at least a rough outline, or a bare minimum, a clue) for where they wanted to go with Someday bigger before they shelled out all the cash for it. If they're paying Envisioning + Storytelling +Fluff spinning (or whatever they're called) to come up with a plan for them, then I hope they're getting taken to the cleaners for it.

More likely, they're paying these folks to put this nice "feel good" spin on things while scoping out the local regulatory/political environment. But what do I know, I just drive the big red truck.

I expect that Boyne will take the clientele and surrounding area into account when deciding what type of shopping experiences to add. I agree w/ outlets and some more interesting restaurants. If I'm going to pay 10$ for a burger, it better be freshly made and of high quality meat..not McDonald's style... let's throw some Maine back in.. game meats, fiddle heads and dilly beans. :)

Another sell would be a bar boasting a HUGE selection of Maine brews...Maine has some of the best home brews in the country..let's show them off.

Part of the fun of visiting other resorts for me is to see what the area offers..I love to check out local brews, local fare and souveniers from the area..

Fiddle heads are gone now..their season is in July/August I believe..they are the tips of particular fern that grows in boggy areas..they have a spinach/asparagus -like taste.. don't accept them from strangers though..if they pick the wrong ones you are as good as dead.

Dilly beans are simply pickled green beans.. I brought some to Bob R's once to introduce him to Maine.

Yuck I guess it's an aquired taste...kind of like Scrapple in eastern PA...do you have shoo-fly pie in Maine??? I guess not due to the lack of Amish people..lol..

I visited Sunday River for the first time last year. I expected a big resort feel with the all the extra things that you don’t really need at a ski area. I was pleasantly surprised when i got their not to find this. For me Sunday River felt like a classic area. I felt like I was out in the mountains and not at a over developed resort. That’s what I liked about it. It has a unique feel and unique terrain. I would be sadden to see it get over developed and westernized.

Agreed with skier90, but just because they're hiring someone to help plan the future of the area doesn't mean they will be building a village/useless shops.....

What about red hot dogs , I tell people from "away" that they use old lobster shells to make them red.LOL
Fiddle heads are the dark green clump covered in bronze husks that you pick in May while fishing for brookies. Stur fry the whole mess with buttah and gahlic.

I think connecting SR with Bethel is inevitable giving the volume of traffic waiting to get to So.Paris to spend their cash on cheeseburgers and DD. Just look at the business that Irving station is doing on 26 and it's easy to see that as a potent profit center in the years to come. The golden arches will look great with the Andrscoggin river in the background. Can't you see it now one big megalopolis from sea to shining sea.

What a hoot. A way to go back to the roots of SR while looking forward, and include Bethel in the "envisioning"???

AS WELL THEY SHOULD!

SR goes back to a time BEFORE Les Otten' s father in law ( Preston WHO?) set sights on the place.

Anyone know the name of the inital investment group ( private citizens pooling money and taking shares to incorporate for funding the first trails and lift on Barker)?
