How do ski areas in general regard tailgating. I mean, if I breakout the weber at Stowe, are they gonna freak or is this commonly done? (blatant newbie question I know)

The only place I know of that gives tailgaiters a hard time is Camelback but their lot is over-run with security. At Blue mountain there are a group of regulars who tailgate almost everyday in the lower lot. At Stowe tailgating is huge and people even bring their dogs. For myself..if I'm on a ski-trip I'll sometimes pay the $$$$ for on mountain food but when my friend Tom joins me in Jackson Hole he's big into tailgating. One time he made bison stew and we didn't have any utensils so I used an old credit card..he made hot dogs at Grand Targhee..which is also a cheap idea..made from anus and lips but tasty..

Rutgers season football ticket holder here so they are well versed in that regard. But I never thunk to bring the hibachi (small weber actually) up to the slopes..... I can do this at Blue as the car/lodge distance is pretty close (we get there early)

I'm gettin an education here! very cool

I think I must have used the little charcoal Weber kettle grill 45 times last spring. Find yourself an aluminum camping table on the cheap that rolls up and stores in a bag. It's a pain to work with a Weber sitting on the ground.

I have a fairly big one I found on closeout somewhere on the internet that looks like this:

So Geoff is that dude with the crockpot in the lodge..lol..

Nope. I've never brought a crockpot to a base lodge. That's way too freakin' big to deal with.

My JetBoil collapsed down so everything fits in the 1 liter container. It's no bigger than my quart Nalgine water bottles

I've brought my day pack up to Killington peak a number of times, did lunch for four people, and skied with my day pack for the rest of the day. Good luck doing that with a crockpot.

had a fold up picnic table on tramdock this morning for $50....was tempted

as for tailgating at Stowe? Probably no longer a good idea over at Spruce. The middle Gondi lot is ideal and I've never been bothered. Perfect as you can ski to and from your car.
