Date(s) Skied: December 16, 2011
Resort or Ski Area: Breckenridge, CO
Conditions: Sunny and warm. Dew tour was in town which made the slopes a bit crowded but not too bad.
Trip Report: Got to Breck around 10:30 and were just in time to see and hear Shaun White's run down the half pipe.
(idk who this kid was...got in the shot, lucky)
Today was still qualifiers, tomorrow finals. We started out riding Peak 8 and getting warmed up by taking some cruisers like Four O' Clock and Crescendo, but with the crowds for the dew tour we bounced around a little bit and spent a little more time over at peak 7 and 9. Contest Bowl was open but it had already been hiked and tracked out pretty bad.
Peak 7:
Stayed here for most of the morning and skiied some bumps. Snow was decent, a bit icy in the shady areas but pretty good in the sun. Rode Northstar and Claimjumper for the most part and then decided to head over to Peak 9 where there would be more sun.
Bumps on Northstar (Breck in background)
Showing this kid the skills
Bottom of northstar, vdk03 cruisin'
Peak 9:
We skiied/rode Peak 9 for the rest of the afternoon until our last run down from the Peak 8 Connect chair. Took the C-Chair up and rode American once or twice which I thought was really nice...tracked out and a little choppy but the snow was soft which was a nice feeling compared to the other side of the mountain. I was lovin' it on my skis.
Bottom of American...just dropped the rope, man we need some snow out here too
Near the end of the day we cruised down Bonanza once or twice as well trying to find our way back to the Peak 8 Super Connect. It would be a lot easier to get to Peak 8 but not everything is open so you have to ski down to the Connect once your over on that side of the hill.
Slowly learning the mountain.
Be back tomorrow
