Date(s) Skied: Valentines and the day after

Resort or Ski Area: Breckenridge, CO

Conditions: PP up high, groomers. We were staying pretty low.

Trip Report: FIRST TIME ON TELE'S. Such great days. Tuesday morning we woke up and decided we'd rent tele's for the day from AMR in Breck. It's something we (vdk03) and I have been thinking about doing since we got out in CO and since Breck hadn't seen much snow we decided it would be a good day to try something new. TR really isn't that interesting... Best part was that we got to try new equipment (NTN Tele bindings). We took the chairlift up Peak 7 and headed right off the lift to some rolling terrain. First two runs were...well, entertaining. Never had lessons and Jim hadn't been on a pair of skis in 12+ years. Needless to say, even after falling once or twice and trying to get the hang of it...halfway down we were hooked. Sweating and breathing heavy it is by far one of the funnest things i've done. To be challenged IMO and not be completely failing was a nice feeling. After the first two runs we started to get a good feel for the turns and after some well said constructive criticism to both parties I'm happy to say we left the mountain with ear to ear smiles. We found an awesome groomed trail on the bottom right of Peak 7 which no one was on and had lots of practice there. I'll have to admit that it was a completely different feeling not being the "experienced" skier on the mountain. I forgot who said this in another AZ thread but the feeling of someone "buzz" by you when you are already not 100% confident was definitely nerve wracking. I had a pretty close call as I was trying to make some turns in a cool, calm collective manner and some kids came launching off a lip on the hill above me and almost had a serious collision. It was a definitely an eye opener......

Wednesday was even better! Although my legs (specifically quads) were so sore I had to take a break like every 15 turns. My turns and speed had significantly increased. Tested out some moguls... ha. I can't believe we spend two days on blue's and had as much fun as we did. We did take a couple black diamonds and made them down in once piece. All in all, an eye opening experience and I can't believe I haven't taken this type of skiing up earlier. Looking to purchase some new skis (or just replace my bindings) with these NTN bindings ASAP.. hopefully before the end of this year to get some more practice and have a leg up on next years winter. We will have gear review coming soon.

Pics below and some video being edited..... constructive criticism is appreciated from any experienced tele marker. Since neither of us took lessons I know it would benefit following someone down a trail one time to pick up on some key points and/or just hear some words of wisdom.
