Resort or Ski Area: Bromley
Conditions: awesome!
Trip Report:
Haven't been there in a long time but remember having a great time and wanting to go back. Sunday delivered for us. Except for a t-bar injury (straight to the mouth of my 8 year old) all was good! First ride up the Sun Mountain Express made us feel like we were on top of the world - views were great in all directions. Snow pack was crusty and fast to start. As the temperature rose, things softened beautifully. Bit sticky mid afternoon in a few spots, but then quickly disappeared late in the day. Don't recall the order but I know we hit Pushover first. Pretty much stayed to the looker's right side of the mountain, riding the Blue Ribbon Quad. We thoroughly enjoyed the bumps on Pabst Panic and No Name Chute. Sunder's bumps were nice also but the pitch just a bit much for me (as in I could ski it but it wasn't as enjoyable). Avalanche Glade was the favorite of the day (even after the sticky snow at the end caught me off guard and forced me into a face plant). Late in the day we discovered a large rock at the bottom of Stargazer/Little Dipper (spotted on a break on Havoc) that the kids enjoyed hucking themselves off of for a couple of runs.
Coverage was really good with only a few thin spots noted on the trails we hit. Only exception was The Glade trail- lots of bare spots there. (not the Avalanche Glade - that had good coverage)
Employees there were terrific - lift line guy telling jokes first thing was a nice way to start (corny as they were). And I was most appreciative of the kitchen woman who provided me with a bag of ice for the t-bar injury - she stopped, without hesitation, in the middle of making a sandwich to get it for me and spared me the hassle of finding ski patrol. Just a feel good kind of place and a great day.
Have some pictures this time but will need to figure out how to get them off the camera and on here. :-?
