Trip Report:
Couldn't get my ass out of bed until 11:30, and by the time I headed out it was already sprinkling in Lyndonville. Got up there just after noon... open stuff is Upper Willoughby to mid Bear Den to lower Warren's off the quad plus a little more of Warren's off the Poma midstation. Willoughby was good at the top, then got increasingly slick as you went right over to Bear Den. Warren's was interesting as the racers had about 2/3rds of it taken up so all the general traffic was filtered into the left 1/3rd of the trail. It was pretty slick and also had some groove remnants from previous race training. Warren's above the merge was pretty nice... for some reason they weren't training up there. Makes a lot of sense, put the courses where the trail is the most crowded.
I'm curious as to why they didn't drop a few ropes at the top... the trails had a foot of snow sitting on them and looked sick but they didn't bother. A lot of people were poaching which I was about to start doing, but the changeover started coming in so I scrammed after an hour or so. I dipped into the woods a bit off Willoughby and barely hit ground most of the time.
Anyways, pouring rain right now so goodbye natural stuff. Might get to Cannon Wednesday for a couple hours and then hopefully skiing somewhere in the Eastern Townships Thursday. Back to Wawa land next weekend.
