Well I made a game time decision this morning...Work or Powder. Since I had not had a decent powder day in almost 2 years :-o I decided on the latter . I have to say I like my decision.
It was puking snow all morning. Got to the mtn with about 6 inches on the ground around 9:00 and another 6+ inches accumulated throughout the day. Not a crazy day of powder by any means but it was definitely good enough to bring a smile to my face for most of the day (until the last run that is, more on that in a bit  ). There was actually quite a few people there due to local schools and Lyndon State College being closed for the day. I'm sure Zand was out there somewhere too
First run was a top to bottom warmup on the Foxs' was real nice all the way down.
East Bowl hadn't been groomed and there were a lot of fun bumps and features to toss off of all the way down. The woods are all in great shape too. The funny thing today is that the official glades (Caveman, Throbulator, etc) had far less traffic than all of the "Secret" spots. Due to all of the locals being out in force, they were all after the sweet spots. The top very steep and rocky section of my favorite sweet spot had been scraped to death by a hoard of snowboarders. :uzi:  Consider my ass chapped over that. The lower section was still in decent shape and my personal intimate knowledge of this sweet spot  was able to produce full blown over the head face shot in a line that had been completely untouched so far this winter. This helped sooth the chapping a bit .
Things were going great until the second to last run I and my friend had planned to do. We came down Upper Fox's and cut over and ran the bumps on Ledges. Then cut back to the lower section of Fox's Folly at the lower chair clearance headwall. I tossed of the headwall and spotted a sweet mound of snow to launch off of as I came out of the dip. I was carrying a lot of speed and got tossed in the air much higher than expected. I extended my legs too early and fell into the backseat upon landing. I hit the next bump totally in the back seat which sent my feet into the air. I landed flat on my back in the powder which didn't hurt but the tip of my left ski plunged deep into the chopped up powder and twisted my left leg around really hard. This catapulted me into a two tumble ragdoll from which I recovered into a standing position. However, my left leg felt wrong. No blown knee thank goodness. But somewhat similar to the way my leg felt when I broke my tibia in high school :-o . I skied down the chopped powder of Lower Warrens Way back to the lodge and called it a day. After futher examination I don't think I broke anything but I think I did put a good amount of stress on the bones and other internals of my lower left leg. I think I may have to take it easy for a couple days to see how it progresses.
