Doing my best trying to salvage what has been an awful year at Burke snow-wise. NEK finally got in on some double-digit action for the first time in 2 years, with Burke pulling in 15". Headed up yesterday afternoon after class for about an hour... already 8-10" on the hill at that point and it was terrific. Deepest snow was on Warrens and Willoughby where it drifted over and made for lots of knee deep goodness. Also hit East Bowl which was nice. Hit Scooby Doo which they ruined by putting on the map. Used to be my favorite glade to hit when the snow wasn't very deep, but it's just been awful since they put it on the map. Also hit Bear Den which was a bit slick on the ledges but otherwise lots of powder.

Got back up for an hour this morning before class... started off on Warrens under the poma which had some waist deep drifts. Moved over to Sasquatch/Dixiland which were wicked deep. Dixiland had a few snakes lurking but the untouched stuff was very worth it. Birches was a mess... half of it is closed off for regeneration so there's only 2 or 3 lines and they were thin and crappy. Doug's to McHarg's was beautiful with lots of untracked. Rerun was great as long as you don't like your skis.

Today was the 2nd time all year I've skied Burke with it 100% open. Only the 3rd or 4th when there was as much as a glade open. It's been a rough year for them... hopefully this snow helps them finish strong. Groomers are deep so they will last a few more weeks anyway. Hit Jay a few times in February and it's more than clear that they've gotten 150-200" more than Burke this year. Back to Burke tomorrow afternoon and Friday morning, then Jay for the weekend.
