2006 Trip Report #: 54

Resort: Burke

Conditions: P/PP

Weather: Mild with snow showers becoming freezing rain for a time. Some fog. Temps in the 30's. 1-2 inches of new snow.

Trip Report: Despite the Eastern Cup, Burke opened to the public and I headed up for my 39th day there this season. The game plan was to hit what I could before the r%^ns came....it was better than expected.

I hit all the groomers...west side trails had drifted snow on them and east side, though limited, skied well. East Bowl was nice as always and the runout was fast. Powderhorn to a flat Lew's Leap was interesting. And a groomed Doug's Drop? Yep. It was decent...better than expected:

I braved Ledges to find it quite icy and requiring some hop turns and side slipping in places.

ROTD was Upper Warren's where I found soft drifted dense snow on the skier's left. I hugged that line at least five or six times....nice:

At about 2:45 we got some freezing rain which kind of killed things...but I skied a few more runs before calling it quits at 3:45. A nice outing. Some icing:
