Burke lodging recommendations?

I've never been to Burke, but seeing so much enthusiasm for the mountain, I decided to check it out this weekend.
What would you recommend for lodging. I'm very price sensitive, so anything upscale is just not doable. Clean room with couple of beds is all I'm looking for.

Has anyone stayed at the Lyndon Motor Lodge? Is that a flea ridden hole or is it OK?

YES. If you are referring to the old LynBurke, it is. They have made some renovations, but it is still a Motel on Route Five. I can't speak for the one that is south on Route 5....right off of I-91.

Have you looked at the Hampton Inn in Littleton, NH? That is 30-45 mins from Burke.

Comfort Inn and Suites in St. Jay is also a possibility, but St. Jay is a hole. No doubt about it.

Wildflower: too expensive.

The old Days Inn is an option. I think it is the Collonade Inn.

Come on Boss. StJ is not that bad. ;) Compared to say, Barre, anyway!
The Comfort Inn is very nice and they have lift/lodging deals. Book ahead though, as that area is very popular with snowmobilers and hotels can get filled up. If you end up in StJ and want pizza, Ramunto's is where it's at.

Thank you all for great suggestions. I like the Hampton Inns, but the Fairbanks is a bit closer, so I just made the reservations !
Now, I'll be checking the storm progress every hour on the hour and hope for big snows.

Might I also suggest these deals which just went into effect:

Vermonter - If you're a resident of Vermont, or Coos or Grafton Counties in New Hampshire, get a full day lift ticket for $39 everyday in March. Tickets for seniors, teens, and kids are even less!

Season Pass Holders - For the entire month of March, bring your current season pass from any other ski area and get a full day lift ticket for only $30.

Burke/Ginn is also co-sponsoring a possible huge dogsled race this weekend

Billed as the first Charity Sled Dog Dash at the Burke cross-country center on Pinkham Road. Races run both days with money raised going through the Clark Gilles (NHL Hall-of-Famer) Foundation to benefit local sports, schools and medical facilities in the Northeast Kingdom. Gilles is a regular East Burke visitor. Might be quite interesting event as it is a sanctioned New England Sled Dog Club event with 60-80 teams scheduled-after skiing,of course.
