E. BURKE, Vermont -- The Burke Mountain Ski Area announced today that it has enhanced its discounted lift ticket program for Vermont residents. In addition to Vermonters, residents of Coos and Grafton Counties of New Hampshire are also eligible for the discount. The discount program is being offered every day of the week, excluding holiday periods.

A regular adult lift ticket is $54 at Burke this season, all week except during holiday periods. With the Vermonter discount, the same lift ticket is $39. For seniors and teens, the Vermonter rate is $30 versus $40. And for children between the ages of 6 and 12, the discounted price is $27 versus $36. Details at skiburke.com.

"With our local community in mind, it's just the right thing to do. I'm pleased we're doing it," said Charlie Hardiman, general manager at Burke Mountain.

Charlie is no longer the manager.

And I hope that this means that they will be replying to our AZ Challenge Questions with the same "community spirit" in mind.

$39 is the same price that jay peak charges for a vermont resident. looks like they are price matching jay even though burke's regular day ticket is a good deal less expensive than jay (so the vermonter deal is not relative). this is obviously a smart move on burke's part, though too bad they decided to announce this deal after most people have probably bought the early bird season pass that might have decided day ticket pricing at vermonter rates would have been better for them. smart move financially though.
