Nothing like ripping up 2.5 hours of untracked pow before heading into work. I need to do this more often.

Cannon reports in with 9-10" two day total for this storm. Seems accurate to me after accounting for wind effects. It skied more like 7" though I certainly went 10" deep in many places where no one skied yesterday. Tale of the tape was that lots of trails were reserved and skied great. Some better than others. Minor base damage was had but no core shots. Over the saddle, definitely a lot less total snow, especially on the open slopes but secrets revealed plenty to make the sucky parts worth one run... but no more. Cannon lost almost all of their natural snow base on trials without snow making, so definitely not for the faint of heart. A dozen untracked runs in two and a half hours? Sweet!

The mountain looks great and with good snowmaking temps to continue, Cannon should have all of their snow making trails online within the next two weeks even without any additional natural snow. For natural snow trails.... this storm isn't going to cut it and by this weekend, it ain't gonna be worth it. I'll be in NoVT this weekend any ways :D As much as I love Cannon... you either go the day after the storm or you look else where. I give it a B+ today.

Additional info for report

I was also up there yesterday. First run was over to Mittersill. Totally poached the goods in front of someone on Taft on the way to the hike. I hope he liked the view! Busted trail up the hike and down to the lift shack. We tried to ski lift line which was good up to the steep pitch which I found out too late was nothing but open rock still, think jumbled pile of cement blocks. As long as you stayed on the low angle stuff you were well rewarded. There just isn't any reliable base yet. We also did Tuckerbrook just because we could. Same deal. The upper 13 turns were in brush and rocks under a foot of pow. Once we got past that the rest was sweet powder that rest of the way. Even did Lemming's Leap at the end. I'm just glad I have access to a base welder and a stone grinder......

What trails do you recommend for tomorrow? Still untracked on closed trails?
I would recommend going somewhere else for tomorrow if you are looking for untracked. Most places are going to be tracked out regardless... but tracked out at Cannon this weekend will mean zero base. This was definitely a day after the storm only type powder skiing.

Thanks for breaking trail. I appreciated that. There was plenty of untracked to be had right behind you so no hard feelings on Taft as that was me in front of you guys on Taft and I was right behind you before pealing off onto Upper Hard which was sweet untracked. I was stalling as I didn't want any one following me at the top of Taft. Didn't much matter who went in first, I had already skied three completely untracked trails by then. Bad call on the liftline though  I found sweetness in the more sheltered moderate pitched areas.
