The weather outlook looked promissing for Friday (4/15), at least as far as sunshine was concerned, so I took a day off and hit Cannon. I knew that the mountain would freeze overnight, which it did and that day time temp wouldn't get over 40*F, which I don't think it did.

But the day was beautifully sunny with little or no wind, so it was a joy to be out despite the fact that the mountain stayed firm on top, pretty much throughout the day.
I started at noon and the runs off Zoomer were soft, with heaps of fairly dry corn on top firm layer.

The mogul lines were rather messed up - as much as I respect the our snowboarding brethren, you guys do mess up mogul fileds for us skiers, especially once the snow gets corned up and can be pushed around.

The top, as mentioned did stay firm and actually icy if you ventured onto the parts the were not touched by grooming, so it skied fast. It seemed to soften up a bit by about 3 PM, so some fast, top to bottom runs were quite enjoyable.
As expected, not too many people. Overall, a really nice day, perhps my last one this season. However, the cover, still quite abundant, is giving me some thoughts of just coming up and earning some turns once Cannon closed after this weekend.

A good overall assessment of the day. The messed up bump structure wasn't a snowboarder issue though, it was definitely a product of the corn on ice conditions. Rocket and Avalanche probably showed it the most...some completely solid lines vs some completely soft sugar/corn lines. The corn tended to pile up as it was scraped off the other sections. I tended to stay right in the corn lines (on my board) while I noticed a lot of skiers tending to stay right in the scrapey lines.

Today was just a horror show. But nobody seemed to care.....they were all in the bar.

Not very good was my assessment.
In case, I forgot. Thanks for the beer.
