Who is the best ski instructor at Cannon?

I've got both of my kids in Cannon's Junior development race program and they are loving it. My wife is in the woman's clinic and has really improved over the past 2 seasons. I'm over due for a lesson by about 20 years. A little background : 42 yo self taught (oxymoron?) comfortable with speed making carved turns on blues not so comfortable on the blacks. Also would like to learn the bumps and trees. Thanks in advance.

Sad to say I don't know anybody on Cannons ski school that I would take a lesson from except the director Irv Fountain.I can kick his ass too but I'm sure he could fine tune me a little.I'll ask him when I see him this Friday in the bar as always.(After closing of course)

Thats too bad.
Unless there are any other takers, I'll call and try to book with Irv then. Thanks for the heads up.

A quick update. I took a 3 hour private lesson with Irv Fountain this past Saturday. Really nice guy. We started off on Ravine and working on improving my stance. Me too far forward with knees bent ala hockey style or lack of. Irv taught me how to be more neutral and upper body upright. Much better. Then on to the "1000 steps drill" to help me move with the skis. Later worked on the bumps on Rocket and Zoomer liftline! Please don't laugh too loudly on the chair its distracting! Overall good experience and will be looking forward to another lesson with with irv over February break. Thanks SIKSKIER

That is odd that you were too far forward and needed to be put more upright. Most skiers have the opposite problem. Perhaps it was more of an issue of bending at the waist instead of bending the knees? A lot of folks lean their upper body forward due to being told to lean forward. It makes them feel like they are forward but their legs are vertical, their butt is in the dumper position, and their upper body is bent. Ideally, you want the lean happening in your legs, knees, lower body, however you want to think of it and tilting of the pelvis to get the nose over the knees and the toes.

Glad to hear you had a good instruction! Starting with the stance is the right way to go! Get that right and a lot of things improve on their own.

Thats exatctly what the problem was. I tend to bend at the waist as well as knees/ankles.I was told to keep my upper body erect and bend at the knees. I did feel more stable and over the course of the weekend much less fatigued.

Also looking forward to picking up a new pair of skis form Roger's on Saturday . Blizzard "the One" 177cm. Demoed it 2 weeks ago and really liked how they handled in the bumps, trees and at mittersill.
