Heard good reports from Kinsman but didn't hit it.
I would need to ski it to believe it. And today was not a day I would ski it. I've been in there before its opened and when coverage is thin. That is not the place to be when the base is not perfect. Total rock and downed tree fest. Based on my experiences else where on the mountain, yea, very surprised to hear anything good about Kinsman at all. I'm sure the top third was bananas. I hit some stuff that started "whoa, wooo!!!" and finished with a lot of cautious single turn/stop/reassess/side step/repeat.

^^ Felt the same way, which is why we skipped it.

So you were in that morning tram mad house somewhere in line between Prophet (front of line) and me (3rd tram). Have to hook up with you for turns one of these days.

Yea, we definitely need to meet up for some turns at some point.

I booted up in the parking lot as fast as I could when I saw how many cars were already there. I walked into the tram building at 7:50 and couldn't believe it! I knew it was going to be close but I didn't think I was going to make it as folks had really bunched up and crammed in the coral. Sure enough, I wasn't even close, like 20 back on the second car. I debated hiking over to Zoomer but figured it wasn't worth it. Sure through off my plan of attack for the day knowing I was 70 people behind plus the Quad was already unloading by that point. Got down to Avi and it was already hard to find any stretch of untracked longer than one turn.

I walked in to that madness. Prophet was giving me the head nod that said "hey, sneak up here and hop in first tram with me." I thought: A) I'm not that type of person, B) I would never survive the mauling from this crowd. Glad you didn't have to kick my ass first thing in the morning.

+1. Not too much to add. Got there at 8:00. Ended up on the 3rd tram!! WTF!! Moderate lines at Cannonball and Tram all day.

As for Front Five Glades: Only hit Snowmaker...ouch. Base depths = 1" plus whatever was new today. Never realized the rock exposure in there. Heard good reports from Kinsman but didn't hit it.

A medicore day by most standards, great day for this year. Mostly it was just good to see smiling faces and everyone going hard. Skied with a good group including AZers Puckit and Prophet who were killing it as usual. Prophet gets props for wacky thinking on tram schedules and showing up at 6:45am. Front row parking, hour long nap, and first tram....great way to start the day!! Puckit gets props for generosity....thanks again man,
. I forget the beer for the truck, so I owed. First ejection of the year was a good one. I made it at 8:30 and parked in the usual and got first tracks down the bumps on Skier's right on Zoomer.

Riv, The ropes were still up on all the front five glades. There were poaches but no official openings. Banshee Glade was about the only one worth it.

Ha! Someone screwed up on their snow/trail report. Now the report is the same as it was this morning. When I got back home, they had all glades except Tramline and Kinsman listed as open. They fixed it though.

Hahaha! I was wondering if you would try and make the first tram.. I think you would have lost a leg that day given how badly everyone was after it. Pretty funny to see how snow starved everyone is this year, you would have thought 2' of fresh fell. I was able to grab first tram becasue I was the first person in the lot, got there at 6:45am.... Don't ask... The bonus was getting second tracks the full length of Hard Scrabble, followed by first and second tracks down Banshee lift line, to first tracks down Banshee. Pretty good morning, but it got scraped off fast.

Hoping that this Thursday/Friday pans out and they get the 12"+ that potentially is heading this way. If that's the case the whole place will be in great shape including the glades!

I skied kinsman this past weekend. It was by far the best snow on the mountain. U may not believe it but I thought it skied at least as good as last year. There is a lot of snow on that side of the mountain. Much much more than the west side.

Saw the tracks. We thought about but no go. Front five glades are real thin spots, so wecthought it was not worth it.
