Heading to Cannon and Waterville Valley for the first time at either place, Thursday and Friday respectively. Anyone up there? Anyone have any tips? I can read a trail map and I believe I can ski anything on it (albeit not always gracefully). Any good stuff not on the map? Would it be worth the hike to ski Mittersill? Does either have any glades? Thanks in advance. Keith.

Waterville will be nice especially if its warm. Eat at the hut at the top of the quad on the deck. Great views. If you like cruisers the main quad is fine. Steeps are off the Sunny side chair. Not many secrets at Waterville.

Thanks. I'm considering Friday as a beach day! Those are great tips! Keith.

Hiking to Mittersill... Might be dicey. I didn't see many people hiking over on Saturday, but then again, there weren't many people on the mountain, period. A couple of Cannon's natural-snow-only trails are closed, which should give you an indication of what you'll find at Mittersill.

Cannon has a couple glades, most of which are off the Zoomer chair. Whether or not they'll be open is another matter.

Skiing Upper Cannon and turning only where the trail turns is a rush.

Drop into Avalanche off Paulie's Extension and stay to skier's right the whole way down for one of the steeper plunges at Cannon.
