Cannonball Express has always been called that, ever since it replaced the T-bars. When the old Peabody double was replaced, I thought the new HSQ should be simply the Peabody Quad for consistency, but nobody listens to me.

The t-bars were replaced the same time the gondola was right? 1980?

I had a midweek pass for years at Cannon and I don’t remember that, but I’m sure I made cracks about it. My mind is going.

I skied there a few times in the 80’s but don’t remember the t-bars at the top. Must have ridden them but the 80’s for me were a little cloudy. 😎

According to newenglandskihistory.com, the summit T-bars were removed after the 1989-90 season and the Cannonball “Express” Quad opened the following winter.

The middle mtn is torched. Middle cannon will be gone after tomorrow leaving middle ravine and that's getting thin as well. On a normal year they could spin the top quad and download that tram I suppose but not this year. We will see.

Delayed opening today for all lifts except Peabody - anybody know why? Wondering if its worth the trip up this weekend.

Storm delivered 5” (so they say). That’s 0” in some spots and 8” in others. Ice, powder, something for everyone! It’s actually skiing pretty good, considering the month.

Hoping they can make it to Saturday.
Sincerely wishing you luck.

The top of the mountain has plenty of mashed potatoes in play -- Profile, Skylight, and Upper Cannon were all in good shape Wednesday. As @snoseek suggested before the last dump, the middle mountain is the weak link. Last Friday was my first trip there but I learned a useful thing that I used more than once today: Spookie gets you around the gravel on Middle Cannon. (Didn't know gravel was a ski trail thing until Cannon. Grass, yeah. Dirt, sure. Ice, of course. Gravel... really?!)
