CatEye Q3A

BK.jpg

If the idea of owning a separate computer for each of your athletic disciplines annoys you, you're not alone. It's for this very reason that we've seen a massive industry shift towards multi-sport computers, and not surprisingly, they work exceptionally well. After all, with the CatEye Q3A, you're able to view metrics for cycling, swimming, hiking, or running, all with the convenience of a wristwatch. And, exclusive to the Q3A, you're also able to view your current surrounding temperature and altitude.
While the Q3A is designed for multi-sport usage, it does include most of the functionality of CatEye's cycling line of computers. However, you'll find that the Q3A separates your metrics into three sets of displays -- upper, middle, and lower. At the upper display, regardless of whether you're running, swimming, or cycling, you'll see current, average, and maximum speed displayed. And with the Q3A's lap feature, you'll also be able to view your average and maximum lap speeds.
For the Q3A, CatEye ensured multi-sport functionality through the inclusion of a heart rate sensor. Additionally, the CatEye also included a cadence sensor. With these devices, you'll find that the middle display of the Q3A is dedicated to their readings. Accordingly, you're able to view your heart rate in terms of current, average, maximum, and average lap. And as for your cadence, you're able to view your metrics within the same aforementioned fields.
At the lower display, you'll find that CatEye focused its attention on both time and calorie consumption. As a result, you're able to view various distance metrics, the date, the current time, lap time, and calorie consumption.
It's also worth noting that the Q3A allows you to train within five programmable heart rate zones, and up to 99 laps. It functions on a 2.4GHz digitally encoded wireless band and is capable of storing up to 30 training files. Additionally, the Q3A features programmable time, distance, and countdown functions, and it's waterproof up to 30-meters. Lastly, the Q3A exclusively features both temperature and altitude readings.
The CatEye Q3A is available in the color Black and in one size. Please note that each Q3A includes a wristwatch, handlebar mount, heart rate sensor, and a cadence sensor. Each device includes a corresponding battery.
