Christie Brinkley was at Sundown a few weeks back. My wife waited on her in the Welcome Center. Unforunately, I was not there to meet her.

She was there with her daughter and they celebrated her daughters birthday. She was there on a Saturday and also came back the next day.

Cool, I was in the vicinity of Christie Brinkley. I should pay more attention to who's there... ;)

Doesn't Redford have like a billion acres of mountains in Idaho, Montana, Wyoming, Colorado....

WTF was he doing at Buttercup?

I think that's Ted Turner..my buddy Tom used to be his Bike mechanic...I saw Michael Keaten in Bozeman but not skiing..and Dennis Quaid at Big Timber waterslides in Montana.

Hahaha..I was thinking the same thing myself..I rode the forerunner quad at Stowe with Jake Burton when I was in college.

you should see that guys house. I crashed the big Burton Christmas party when I lived in town one year. He's got a fairly large Vermont country farm house and then a HUGE barn with a bar in it and set up to party. Between the house and the barn is a tunnel that runs under ground for about 100 yards. Half way down the tunnel is an underground half indoor soccer field.

back on topic

closest I ever came to a celebrity at a ski area was Bill Murray once at Stowe. I was in the line for the Gondola about ten people back. It was a saturday and the line was long and he was heckling the lifties to make the line move faster. Pretty funny

I was atop Aspen Mountain (aka, Ajax) having a group photo done. We were looking around for somebody to take our picture, so we grabbed a random person getting off the lift who obliged. Lyle Lovett apparently assumed that the only reason our group wanted a photo was because we wanted him in it, so he skied over and stood shoulder-to-shoulder with us while Random Picture Taker took the photo. The photo is in my friend's camera, and he hasn't sent me the proof yet, but there you have it. We were all looking over at Lyle with a "what are you doing in our photo???" group.

We saw a poster that evening in Aspen indicating that he had given a performance at some local music hall just the day before, so he was definitely in the area.

And, in a certain way of speaking, I have some "celebrity" status in Aspen as well. I have attended a couple of the Epic Ski Academy clinics over the years. As such, there is quite a bit of video of me skiing out there, so video of my skiing (amoung other peoples) has been widely used as training / testing materials for instructors wishing to pass the Level 3 certification in Colorado (i.e., they see a video of my skiing and are asked "how would you go about teaching this person?" as part of their training and eventual testing).

The end result is that virtually every Level 3 candidate instructor in Aspen has seen video of me. When I was there last year (as part of the ESA), I was sitting at the base of Aspen Highlands when a recently-passed Level 3 instructor was walking by and she shrieked "HEY! A CELEBRITY! I KNOW YOU!!!!!" I looked around expecting to see some famous movie actor, and this instructor comes up next to me and buys me a beer.

From a distance saw Catherine Zeta Jones and Mchael Douglas @ tremblant -- caused quite a crowd stir . Man I LUVED that Zorro flick !!

They were in Tremblant region to purchase property near Lac Superier off the Versant Norde side of Tremblant > The rumor was they were trying to buy the old Monastery there to rehab it into a Ski mansion >But alas it was just rumor they apparantly bought another property in the region .

The funny thing is every year for Many years about 35 of us from all over the Northeast used get together for 4 days and rent that monastery . It had beautiful 4 person cottages on a penisula out into the lake . it was spectacularly beautiful but the last time we tried to rent it they told us it was up for sale - then we heard it was CZJ

I used to stay at Dr. Danger's (Bob Arnot from NBC) house in Stowe in college, he is somewhat famous. Saw Steve Buschemi at Stowe, my instructor friends taught his kids to ski. Jake Burton is just a regular guy around town, deadhead is right, the house is insane. Saw David Wells at Topnotch. The celeb sightings will be more frequent at Stowe once the work is done. Saw Maurice Greenberg at the MAtterhorn, former AIG CEO, he was loaded.

Here on the Cape we have celeb sightings all the time, best one was watching my buddy throw Judd Nelson out of the bar when he was loaded.

I saw Cal Ripken Jr at Sundance about 10 years ago. He was with his family. He was hanging around the lodge all weekend and was really visible because the place isn't that big. I skied alongside his wife and kids a few times. Cal was never on the mtn tho, and when I asked some people why not, they told me he wasn't allowed to ski due to his baseball insurance clause. Too bad

I saw Ted Turner cartwheel it under a chair at Big Sky. Jane Fonda laughed at him and he got up pissed off because he had to hike a 100 yards for his equipment. My buddy, a Nam vet, jumped into their gondola and rode up, giving her crap all the way. They almost kicked him off the mountain for that but she couldn't ID him.
Back in the early 80's, Yoko Ono and son were at Sugarbush. They had guys skiing all around them with uzis. Nobody bothered them.

I lived out @ Vail '74-'75 thru '76 - '77 and work at Cyranos ( a popular resteraunt). Saw many movie stars. The one person I was really impressed with seeing was President Ford. He was a Big person that stood out in a crowd ( and travled with a large Secret Security detail).
