Someone told me Hunter did 5000 one day last week...

Not sure if it's true... It did get crowded a couple days - at least in the parking lot...

Blue mountain had over 11,000 visits on Friday but not all at the same time as some ski the morning or night session..still a ton of people..they probably made 3/4 of a million that day..

I don't know what the count was but Camelback did extremely well for the holidays. Tuesday, Friday and particularly Saturday were extremely busy. On Saturday all of the parking lots were filled to capacity and they were parking cars on the access road leading down to the tubing area. These areas close to the metropolitan areas could be in for very successful seasons. To Camelback's credit they were also able to get the mountain 100% open and there was still some decent skiing to be found if you knew where to go.

Whiteface numbers - "We continue to host a healthy number of skiers/riders each day this season… not quite on par to last season, but this past (Christmas) week’s turnout was considered strong (we had over 4000+ here 4 out of last 7 days). "

Killington:

I'd peg skier visits as pretty much a repeat of last year. In other words, very slow compared to previous years. The Saturday/Sunday after Christmas were moderately busy. Monday through Wednesday were weak because of the thaw over the weekend. New Years Day was cold enough that nobody skied. Friday & Saturday were like average weekend days other than the family & learning areas which were jammed. Sunday, the place was deserted and people were leaving before noon.

If you use the parking lots as a barometer. The Friday & Saturday after New Years were the peak days. There were cars parked a third of the way down the Access Road below Superstar. The Bear lot was maybe 1/3 full. Five years ago, all of that would have been full to overflowing.

The only lift lines I saw were for the K1 gondola and the new Skye Peak Express. I imagine Rams Head and Snowshed sucked but I know better than to go there on Christmas week.

The retailers I spoke to said they did huge business. When the skiing is crap, people go shopping instead. I don't go anywhere near restaurants Christmas week so I don't have a good handle on that.

Yep, we were there on Friday. Was on the Sullivan Express at 8:50 am. Called it quits around 2 pm. It was a mob scene by then. At least the lower 1/3 of the mountain was and the base area. When we stopped, I looked up at the front four (only 3 open on Friday), and I don't think there were six skiers total coming down at that time though.

Ragged was fairly dead on Friday, pretty much skied right on to the main Quad. Sunapee had a full parking lot, but the longest wait on the Goose triple was maybe 5 minutes except for when it kept having to stop. The HSQ looked pretty packed though.

That place must be a gold mine. You use the term session all the time. Can you buy a ticket for just the morning?

At Blue you can buy a morning ticket from 8AM-12:30PM...an afternoon ticket from 12:00PM-5PM..a day ticket from 8AM-5PM...a Twilight ticket from Noon to 10PM or a night ticket for 4-10PM..Blue has 100 percent of their terrain open except for the halfpipe which means they had a great start to the season..lots and lots of days with round the clock snowmaking. I know the 6-pack was a couple million..

Plus Blue does an excellent tubing business..there's a new tubing lodge and I think 14 slides..

I run the ski shop at Jimney so I was there every day of holiday week(12/25-1/4). I do not know the mountains total skier visits yet, but do know that on 1/1 there were 4,820 day skier visits, plus over 1000 at night. Brian Fairbanks the CEO had said 5,000 during the day would have been a record for the mountain. That day I had a awesome day in the store, and my #'s for holiday week, were the best ever for us. We did 15% better than we had predicted to do. This was after a horrible start to the week of rain and 50+ degree temperatures.

They sucked at Belleayre

Skied Sat after Christmas until Sat after New Year's.... Waited in about 4 lines the entire 8 days of skiing. One was when a lift broke. I am not exaggerating. Great for me. Sucks for the mtn.

Really? Source? Good for them, if true. There was tons more snow last year at that time (I had to review my photos). But it seemed especially empty to me last week. Maybe the numbers are close because the holiday period was about 2 days longer this year.
