This is not even remotely fair. They get to bathe in endorphins and adrenaline while we watch the days of October drag by?

Add the Las Vegas Ski Area to the open list as of tommorrow too! Not as much terrain as Loveland, BUT the apres ski in Vegas proper wouldn't be a bad thing ;)

From saminfo.com

"LAS VEGAS SKI AREA OPENS FOR THE SEASON

Las Vegas, Nev., Oct. 6, 2009—The Las Vegas Ski & Snowboard Resort, located only 45 minutes from the Las Vegas Strip, is opening for the “winter” season on limited terrain at noon on Oct. 7. This makes the resort the second in the U.S. to open for the season, after Loveland, Colo.

Unseasonably cold nighttime temperatures and aggressive snowmaking efforts have enabled LVSSR to open Chair Three, Rabbit Peak, the only lift and trail scheduled to open. The lift accesses beginner terrain only.

“Since we’re so close to an urban center, we have many young skiers and snowboarders who love to jib on our freestyle terrain features, and we expect many families to take advantage of this great opportunity to learn the sport and have fun so early in the season,” said Craig Baldwin, base operations manager. “We are extremely excited to open over seven weeks early, a record early opening by far. Kudos to our snowmaking crew for making this possible, they deserve a ton of credit!"

LVSSR will operate Wednesday through Sunday this week, then open weekends only until conditions allow additional terrain to open. Lift ticket prices are reduced to $20. Base area services will include equipment rental, instruction, BBQ and bar."

My sister lives in Henderson. It was sunny and headed to 102 the other day when I talked to her.

Has to be a frost at Greg's house, I believe. Sorry.

Woohoo! I hope someone on AZ will be able to report on this...otherwise, I'll just have to rely on the Divas for the insider info. :snow:

Vegas anyone?

If I could, I would so do that. Hit the strip all night, drive 45 minutes to make some turns, then hit the Paiute Reservation on the way back to the strip for a bigtime round of golf and then back on the strip by dinnertime. And if your lucky enough while skiing/golfing the Airforce would have some seriously cool planes in the sky out of Nellis AFB too! That would be one seriously cool day this time of year in my book!

I got out for a couple hours this afternoon and had fun. It wasn't too crazy but busier than last year. The ribbon was great quality snow edge to edge on a fairly mellow run. I always love the vibe on opening days with happy people everywhere and cameras and media everywhere.
