Date(s) Skied: 3/27, 3/28, 3/30
Resort or Ski Area: Snowmass, Aspen Highlands, Vail
Conditions: Powder, sun, more powder
Trip Report: Colorado hadn't seen snow for a few weeks and temperatures were getting into the 60's and 70's in the valleys. Three days before we left it cooled down started snowing. We were on what may have been the last plane on Thursday due to the Front Range storm. Six hour drive to my dad's place in Carbondale (should take 3.5) due to various closures on I-70.
Day 1 - Snowmass: 7+ inches of snow with blue sky, no wind. Feeling the 11k - 12k altitude for sure, but the conditions were excellent.
Day 2 - Aspen Higlands: Another crappy day. We were hurting from the day before so we stuck to the moguls. Brilliant idea!
Day 3 - Holy s**t were my shins and calves sore! Sleeping like crap didn't help either. Very windy so we bailed and did some sightseeing with my dad.
Day 4 - Vail: 9+ inches of snow (on top of the 36+ inches from the past several days). Clouds rolled in and it kept snowing. Probably the best conditions I've experienced since college. Too bad my body couldn't take full advantage of it.
Plane got hit by lightning landing in Chicago on the way home :-o. WTF!
