Oh yea, how's THAT for a title. :)

For those of you who hit up Crotched here and there, just as an FYI there are two gladed areas that are perfectly ok to ski/board in, even tho they are off the trailmap.

The first is at the top of Galaxy, and it's a blast. It goes thru the wooded section and has various 'bailouts', but ultimatly comes out above Big Dipper. You can actually see if on the trail map, it just doesn't have a name. It has NO manmade and can be a bit rough, but it's a fun narrow little windy shoot.

The second I just found out. Half-way down galaxy, where it takes the 90 degree corner... You'll see tracks going into the woods right there. Follow that small path and it comes out on the mountain on that hill behind the garages. Plenty of room to reconnect back onto the bottom of Big Dipper, and again, all natural snow.

There's a few others here and there as people find them. Hope Crotched will be able to expand on these in years to come..

Last time I was there was two-three years back, I remember the one at the top of Galaxy, they just cleared it. I was talking to Chris (he was the vp of sales and runs the sj forum), he said that area gets extra snow b/c it get blown in from the snowmaking. Don't remember the ones half way down galaxy.

I also checked out the area around the final frontier, very little cover when I went, so I didn't make many runs. Seem like this section has to rely solely on nature. Its up hill wrt to the snow fans.

Yea, I never really liked Final Frontier as a 'glade'. They have in recent years upgraded the pipes around Final Frontier so they can actually make snow on them now, however. That was one of the capital improvements they made last summer.

It is really hidden, and not even close to a maintained trail area. Look below, you'll notice the trail on the right, and the garages down buttom.

Nice map! IMO, the guys at Crotched are doing a great job, I hope they will continue to improve and expand the terrain. The only thing stopping me from going there is that I caught the bump bug, I'm addicted to them and can't stop.

Yea, really hard to compare Hurricane over at Pats with the line on Plutos Plunge at Crotched. :) Maybe when they finally go back to the real summit they can do something better.

Those aren't hidden. In fact, they are shown on the map. The only reason they aren't named trails is so the Crotch can claim 100% snowmaking.

Hidden? Show but not tell.

They aren't really 'hidden'. I mean, I love Crotched, but it's not like throngs of people are going to go thrashing down some hidden fresh pow. :p They're just fun little nitches. There's a couple more, sure, but those are just nice easy ones that most people wouldn't notice.

I disagree. Shown but not told, so Joe Shmoe Buckley doesn't go to the counter and bitch because something that isn't really a maintained trail has 'all bumpy and has sticks here and there'.
