Crowds and pond skimming?

I was thinking of going to either Pat's Peak or Sunapee on Saturday and noticed that they are both holding pond skimming that day. How do events such as these usually affect crowds? Are more people likely to turn out specifically for these events? I've never gone anywhere on an event day before so am unsure of what to expect as far more people than usual-- or maybe it's actually beneficial to go during one of these events, as it takes people off the slopes who are either watching or participating?
Also, since this is Pat's Peak last weekend, does that usually bring out more people?
Thanks for any thoughts . . .

Nope - they don't normally attract a huge crowd, or anything more than a regular weekend crowd.

I know the trails at Burke are like a ghost town during their pond skimming. The whole mountain seems to be watching the skimming. I’m sure this is similar at other mountains.

That has been my experience at Burke as well. I've also watched Jay Peak's pond skimming and that seems to occupy lots of people as well, rather than them actually skiing on the mountain. This time of year the crowds are rather small at most places so it really doesn't make a difference either way.

The pond skimming at each place is out of the way of the main lifts, so I don't think you will have a problem. Both areas should also have good cover and most, if not all, of their groomed trails open...enjoy.
