Yeah, this is what I mean. How is this even fun? And about how long did it take to get on that chair?

Skiing is always fun. I couldn't tell you how long that took. I was riding the VIP line @ the quad. No more then a 5 min wait every run.

Ahh... I guess I meant for the bulk of folks wo/season's passes.

That's one of the cooler ski apps I've seen. I want to try it now, but I'm afraid if I leave the GPS on all-day it will pig my battery to death. Not so?

If my battery dies, it dies. On days when I know I'm going to be out for a long time, I'll use my ipod as my music source. Otherwise, I can get in a session using my Bb for both GPS and music no problem.

Okemo on Saturday was a zoo...not the worst I've seen it, but bad

Dartmouth Skiway on Sunday was great...ski right on ...first time there, such great old NE style skiing. Chairs are slow, but I'm much happier on a slow chair than waiting in a madhouse line.

Went to Plattekill Friday/Saturday. Friday was heaven...no crowds, snow all day. Saturday was crowded...as crowded as Platty gets. What a couple of great ski days with the family!

plattekill one of our favorite spots, never seen a crowd, except possibly one day with power problems at hunter, was there a real wait on saturday? how full was parking? we skied hunter on saturday, the compare contrast with belleayre on sunday was surprising to me

Hunter had a mogul event on Saturday as well.. Not sure it made the crowds any worse.

Saturdays are always more crowded then Sundays. More busses...

Bigger then that Sunday Root. BenedictGomez: Don't get down too much about the crowds. It seems to me (skiing the Pocono's over the last 7 years) that one can never tell from weekend to weekend what they will be like. I've been up on weekends when I thought it would be mobbed only to find it relatively peaceful and the opposite true as well. Another thing is after the Presidents Day Holiday the crowds thin pretty good till closing in late March and the snow stays nice. Of course any weekday is just great.

I skied with my son at Hidden Valley in Jersey on Sunday and it was the busiest I've ever seen it. On my way there I pass Mountain Creek and Sunday at 9:05 the main lots at Creek were already full and cars were lined up at the traffic light to make the right turn off Rt. 94 to one of the overflow lots. I saw that and it reinforced why I don't go to MC on weekends. Well occasionally I'll ski there at night on a weekend I guess.

Back to Hidden Valley, I was at the lower lot at 9:10 and I got one of the last few spaces left, usually that early there will be spaces left in the upper lot. The lodge was full but I managed to find a couple of seats for us to boot up and we went to lunch at 11:00 to beat the lunch crowds.

The lifts however weren't bad, I waited maybe 3 minutes for the triple chair a few times but most of the day it was ski on or a 2 or 3 chair wait. After they opened the Racing Double it was ski onto the lifts the rest of the day. However, there was a line most of the day at the beginner chair. I was glad to see the crowd though because I know the mountain needs revenue and it's more money for my local economy.

Sunday's usually better overall , hangover's, hookups , joint pain, church, and football keep the crowds down. In Park City Sunday's are way better because the local Mormons all go to services.

i know we hate crowds but the crowds are evidence that the ski resorts are going strong this season and maybe they will all make money to keep the industry healthy. they're unavoidable so use the singles lines judiciously and maybe stay at the upper mountain lifts where available.

Here's a quick snap of the mob scene at South Ridge at Sunday River.

Photo was taken at 1:00PM while getting on the Chondola.

I only waited in line for about 3 minutes, so I didn't have much time to take pics of the craziness. Actually pretty impressive that the line was that short considering the insanity.

There must be a good reason WHY you would ever be taking the Chondola at 1pm on a Saturday? So. Ridge is our 'home' lodge, but we escape by 9am and don't return unless we need to. Chondola accesses nothing decent, IMO. You are lucky to get out in 5min, a mistake like that on a normal Saturday could cost you 15-20mins.

We were skiing with a friend who doesn't know the mountain...

We were headed over to white cap... When I told him to go "Straight between the high speed quad and the triple, on to the flat green trail." (From tourist trap -> Road Runner) He associated that with "Turn left and go onto easy street".

He was on a board so trying to keep his speed up and ahead of the rest of us... so we ended up chasing him to south ridge (dreading every second). I was relieved when the chondi line wasn't death.

. Maybe a 2 minute wait at the ticket window. Saw 2 buses in the parking lot and lodge was definately full but full for them is a light day in the Poconos. There were cars parked down the entrance road but that place is so awesome I hesitate to go elsewhere. I can ski myself silly there.

We were surprised on Friday with how busy it was. It wasn't like a weekend day, but busy for a Friday. Saturday was packed! At lunch time, the ski racks were full and people were ditching their gear in the snow.

Sunday, it calmed down a bit.

I know business was good for the local eateries on Saturday night. All this snow has really brought a lot of people out this season. It so good for the mountain economy.

We were also shocked at how busy it was Friday. I remarked that it "was almost equivalent to a light Saturday!" Saturday was VERY busy. Close to the busiest I've ever seen it.

I thought Sunday was still pretty busy. We went to Guest Services at 3:45 to get our free hot beverage vouchers (given to us after the Carinthia quad stoppage), and Summit Express and Canyon Express both appeared to have 4 people on every chair still!

I will say that skier density on the trails was pretty good. Having 100% of your terrain open helps, and I think Mt. Snow's layout is pretty good at spreading people around too.

Sunday's usually better overall , hangover's, hookups , joint pain, church, and football keep the crowds down. In Park City Sunday's are way better because the local Mormons all go to services.

Haha. Hilarious.
