Yeah I meant D-Rays - that was a brain fart.JimG. said:Especially since Kasmir plays for the Devil Rays...you got the league and division right though.
That's the nature of sports though. When a player is on your team and they help you then you love them. Fans are devoted to specific teams for the most part, so when that player gets traded you will usually care less about them (ie Pedro, Millar). However, when that player gets traded to your archrival, then you develop a hatred for that player by association. Same reason that everyone hates Jeter, ARod, et al. - they wear pinstripes.riverc0il said:perhaps bandwagon is the wrong word. i don't watch baseball but i do study baseball fans, whose attitudes are one of many reasons i no longer watch the game. damon was god to so many people i know back when he was a sox.
Kazmir is not eligible for arbitration until 2008 and will not be a free agent until 2011. The D-Rays were smart and locked him up while he was cheap.Mike P. said:But the D-Rays will have to pay Kazmir big $$$ when his contract is up & they won't do that.
Not sure when his contract is up but they will trade him (if not 06 then in 07 or 08) while they can get 2 or 3 young prospects that might develop into good players & can be signed cheap. Once he is a free agent, only big teams will be able to afford his contract.

Marc said:That was not only because he was a Yankee. Sox fans were plenty unfriendly with him when he was with the Jays too, becaues he became fat, lazy, and lethargic with the Sox. As soon as he was shipped out he got his second wind and started pushing his ERA south of 4 once again. Sox fans felt betrayed (and rightfully so).
Becoming a Yankee was just grinding salt into the wound.

JimG. said:Totally agree...I can't bring my boys to see a Yankee game because the stands are filled with drunk, combative, verbally abusive idiots. The "Yankees suck" chant is nothing compared to what you hear at the Stadium. And I don't want my boys to think it's OK to throw things like beer bottles and rolls of quarters at players either.
riverc0il said:wow, a stadium banned alcohol in the bleachers!?!!? what an amazing lose in profit margin, things must have been very bad indeed.
BeanoNYC said:Jim, I disagree with that statement. You may have seen that in the bleachers before they banned alcohol, but in these days things are much different. I wouldn't bring them to a $5 day though. How many boys do you have? If I get ahold of my neighbor's company seats one day, you come and meet me and we'll do it right.
BeanoNYC said:I couldn't begin to tell you, Steve. It was a black eye on Yankee stadium. Many a time, I had felt uncomfortable sitting there. Of course, now I can't have a beer there so I don't sit there...unless it's a playoff game.
