It sounds like you need an EASY intermediate trail (somewhere between GREEN and BLUE trail) and you would like to ride the lift together on the chair lift with your girl.

Belleaye is the place for you. Belleayre has two trails off the top of the mountain (Roaring Brook and Deer Run) that are easy blue intermediate trails. You can ski the easy blue trails and if she wants she can split up to ski more difficult blues Onandaga and easy blacks like Wantatuska. The good news is you can split up to ski different trails and still ride together on the chair lift.

After a few morning runs on SuperChief high speed lift skiing Roaring Brook you may wnat to try Deer Run on the other side of the mountain. To get to deer run you need to get to the Tomahawk lift. To get to the Tomahawk lift take lift 7 and get off at mid-station, then take tomahawk trail down to the Tomahawk lift. Take Tomahawk lift to top and ski Deer run which is even easier than Roaring Brook with great views. To get back to the Overlook lodge on intermediate trails, take Tomahawk lift and unload at Midstation. Then take the blue trails down to the expressway trail that leads back to the Overlook lodge.

Its all good.

if you don;t have a car or just don;t want to drive, catch a bus trip to VT or NYS. there are several operators out of NYC. I;ve done the Emilios Ski Shop/NY Pipe Dreams trip a couple of times-pickup at 86th and York-get on the bus at 4:30 or so, at the mountain by 9:00, ski til 3:45, backon bus and out by 4:30, back in the city by 8:30-9:00pm. They do the hard work for you(and take car of the gas and tolls!) and let you ski and sleep on the way.

it;s cheap, cost of the lift ticket and transportation combined is around the price of a lift ticket by itself!

I am signed up for a trip to Mt Snow this sunday with NACSKI.COM however, they might not get 25 people signed up to run the bus.....so it might get canceled. i hope not, this weekend looks to be pretty winter like.

I would say belleayre is youre best bet. You can get off at the mid station and she can go to the top..then she meets you on the wat down...Hunter is an option but only has 1 somewhat easy run down from the main mountain...and you can't get you;re stuff stolen ..if you use the FREE ski check.......Plattekill is actualy a hard mountain to get around if you'r not used to natural trails..the switchback trails can be rocky and the face trails are steep...but it is a cool place to check out..and you'll never get better unless you try harder trails...

I'll echo the recommendation for Belleayre. It has the best beginner and intermediate terrain in the region, and it gets less crowded than Hunter or Windham.

I have not encountered rude people at Hunter, and there is a free ski check if you’re worried about getting your equipment stolen (not that I have seen that happen anyway). But Hunter is very crowded on weekends. More importantly, its terrain is not well suited to a green/blue skier. They have them, but if you erase all the blacks from the map, most of what’s left is not very interesting.

Hunter was not "very crowded" today as you said - we skied on all lifts without a line and it's a weekend... I hope your not making a comparison to a holiday weekend.

I think Sundays are better than Saturdays. I was there yesterday, and there was never less than a ten to fifteen-minute wait for the sixpack. The one to the left of the sixpack (as you look uphill) usually had long lines too, though not quite as bad. On the other lifts, waits were minimal.

So Hunter tends to have less crowds on Sundays instead of "very crowded" on weekends?

We're parsing things a little finely, aren't we? In relation to the other available options, Hunter (in my experience, which I don't claim is perfect) is generally more crowded than its competition on the same given day. But not all days are equal, and Sundays are better than Saturdays.

And your passing things a bit generally - aren't you?

Just how many times have you skied Bell and Hunter the same day?

We skied on the lifts all day today as we do many weekend days. So "always" just doesn't apply and scares people away.. I've heard some days where Belleayre is just as crowded as Hunter as far as lift times goes.
