Hi,

I am trying to help a friend with his Dell PC (2400 SERIES). It has Win XP, MediaPlayer 9,and AOL 9 (Dial Up).

The problem is this. Whenever you put a CD in, the Dell Jukebox/music match, or whatever it is called launches as the media player. I am trying to make the Win Media Player the default player and I can not seem to shut off the Dell jukebox or find the settings to make the Win Media Player the default.

Thanks,

Tim

Go into control panel then choose folder options. Go to the file types tab and try and find the file types that you want to change to windows media player. You can then hit the change button and choose the program you want.

I did try that by going to Tools > Options (for the WIN MP 9) but did not see that as a setting like you would for a browser to make it your default browser.

One thing to do first is to uninstall Dell Jukebox/Music Match if you don't expect to use it ever.

In WMP, click the round button in the top left corner to display the menu bar if you are not already. Then goto Tools --> Options... and select the File Types tab. Click Select All and then OK. That should do it.

I wasn't saying to do that within Windows MP. Control Panel is on your Start Menu.
