I know it's been discussed 1000000 times, but I thought this new development was interesting:

Denton, of course, always claimed that their trail Avalanche was 66 degrees. It was their big marketing tool (regardless of its validity). However, since new management took over, I can't seem to find any mention of it on their website (www.skidenton.com). Perhaps they decided that it wasn't right to spread erroneous info. Has anyone seen a trailmap or brochure for this season yet? Do they still talk about the "steepest trail in the east?"

We all know that the trail is not 66 degrees. In fact, I believe that it's more like 28 degrees. Still quite steep... about like the headwall of Exterminator at the Bush.

I have in fact skied Denton on more than one occasion, and can verify that Avalanche is definitely a steep trail. It would likely be a double diamond even in VT. Just not 66 degrees.

How far is this place from Long Island? I want to check out some more PA resorts.

Why not? I love the place. There's some real serious terrain for a PA area. It's worth giving it a chance, imho.

Because for that long of a drive..I could be well on my way to Vermont or be in the catskills..I don't want to drive that far for a couple hundred vert..
