Did Whaleback or Tenney ever get their doubles running last season?

I actually did a bunch of searching at one point trying to answer that question about Tenney and I remember that yes, they did get in running in either Jan or Feb.

I know Whaleback's double was operating mid feb to the end of their season. I rode it late feb when I was getting a lesson from Evan. When I was there, they just had a couple of good dumps, some of the trails were in amazing conditions, reminds me of Ragged Mnt's natural trails but steeper. The terrain park had some kickers, Evan and his freestyle team made a symmetrical mogul course for a couple competition events.

Awsome update. Thanks guys. I'm really glad to know that they got them going, and I'm disappointed that I didn't follow up with them or the board mid to late season.

How was the lesson with Evan? How much did it cost?

Evan has a laidback way of coaching and he was technically oriented with his approach. Which aligns to modern day mogul techniques. The focus I got from him is skiing while staying centered and flexing the ankles to initiate and control the turns. Making sure you’re in position early to make the move (or turn) you want to make with power and control. He showed me several drills and areas were I needed to improve both in the flats and in the bumps. In addition, he noticed my (old) boots didn’t give me a lot of flex and flex range. He was the one who recommended the Dalbello Krypton and any of the Cabrio designs (IMO, another great tidbit of information). I got the feeling he would have love to use those boots back in the days when he was competing.

Cost of the private lesson is $75/hr, lift ticks about $30 or less. I think that’s a good deal given you having to pay about same for traditional ski lesson and the coaching you get is the PSIA approach to skiing bumps, which imo, isn’t the same approach as Evans nor present day mogul techniques. Also, Whaleback is a doable one day trip so it’s an easy sell to the SO.

BTW, for others who do not know, Evan Dyvbig is a two time Olympian and toured the WC freestyle mogul event for many seasons. He was a former assistant coach up at Stratton for a couple of seasons and now heads up his own freestyle team at Whaleback.
