You won't get the same mileage with a WRX plus the WRX & STI's only run on high test which costs 30 cents or more per gallon on average. I have an Outback Sport. It's the same car as an Imprezza & only comes in hatchback. Difference is 17" wheels instead of the 16" wheels on an Imprezza, the tires are also a 1/2 inch wider. The suspension is also raised 2" for a little better ground clearance. Same engine as the Imprezza with a few extra creature comforts inside (heated seats, better stereo, blue ray, sport shift trans, etc.). It's a great little ski car.

The wrx and sti are so fun to drive though! I really like the Crosstrek, but hear they're incredibly underpowered. Very similar to your outback sport in appearance and clearance if I'm thinking of the same car.

If you're coming up the Maine Turnpike, the Kennebunk and Gray service areas have diesel, though you might have to go around back with the 18-wheelers.

There should be plenty of Diesel around, lots of log trucks up that way. Go to gas buddy and see if any stations are listed in that area, just click on the diesel tab.

Price of Diesel has jumped like crazy in the last couple weeks. I filled up 2 weeks ago at $3.81 and the same station now has it a $4.15. Glad I filled up my oil tank recently too!

I find it amusing that people are worried about diesel availability in the boonies, notably Maine.

Cities have this problem more than redneck areas.

Wife grew up in Standish, in the woods of Maine an econobox is just a 2500 HD truck with a stick.

Still sitting around $3.65-3.80 out here in CO. Higher here in Leadville, a little less in Denver.

I've also found what AdironRider points out - it tends to be more difficult to find Diesel in city areas than in the middle of nowhere. Those of us who live in the middle of nowhere love our Diesel! :)

Im due for a new pickup, really having a hard time between a Ford Raptor (because awesome) or a Dodge 2500 cummins (because stickshift). Dodge could handle a sleddeck and two sleds and I wouldn't have to worry about no trailer laws on the mtn passes.

I lived in the boonies for awhile. Diesel wasn't easy to get.

What year is the Dodge? The old 5.9l Cummins is a tough engine... it'll just keep on going, and deliver plenty of power (while rolling copious amounts of black smoke, mind you). Unfortunately, you'd like everything else better about the Ford. But honestly... I'd probably get the Dodge, just for the powerplant. When the rest of the truck falls apart around it, find a ford with a blown engine and convert it to the Cummins! :)

I would be buying new. Now that Im an adult and can afford nice things I buy new and drive 2-250k on them. Raptor would just be fun out here. If Dodge could build a truck as well as the Cummins motor, Ford and Chevy would cease to exist.

QFT.

I don't know anything about the newer 6.7 Cummins. All I know is that the new emissions standards have ruined the reputation of diesel engines in the reliability department. EGR & DPF issues are common. And for the sake of all that is good, don't put DEF in your fuel tank. You'll rust out your fuel system so fast you won't know what happened! Just my .02. That's why I love my 7.3 Powerstroke (it's really an International DT444)... reliable, dependable, powerful, and no emissions BS.

Bit of a derail... sorry!

Agree with most of what you said there, but there is ABSOLUTELY NO Reason to put DEF in the fuel tank. That's a fact. Not 2¢ There's a reason why it has a separate tank with the little nozzle and the whole 9 yards...

Yeah, but a lot of trucks have the two filler tubes side by side, and fuel systems are being destroyed left and right because of human stupidity. So just trying to save everyone a little trouble by throwing the warning out there!

Those people should be publicly shamed and baned from entering the gene pool. A little harsh... Maybe, just my 2¢ ;-)

Almost every town has a station that sells diesel. Today, many prices are almost a buck more for diesel that for regular unleaded. You will have no issues getting diesel. Lewiston-Auburn will have it, Livermore and Livermore Falls has it. Farmington and Kingfield have it. Go to www.mainegasprices.com. on the home page click the diesel link and see the diesel prices. You can search by town too.
