One thing I heard about Bosch dishwasher is they do not have a heating element. I forget how the salesman explained how they dry the dishes but supposedly they do a good job. Plastic items may still be wet, but that happens with units that have a heating element. We opted for a Maytag. Got a great deal at Bernie's. Pretty quiet. Cleans great, and dries pretty well.

Congrats on the house, Geoff.
The Bosch that I have does OK with drying...I'd admit that it's not quite as good as ones with a heating element but I don't have too many issues with wet dishes.

I've heard good things about Bosch as well. I've also heard, however, that if they need to be fixed, it will cost you a lot more in repair technician time because it takes a long time to unwind the insulation & other stuff that makes the machine quieter. A repair that would take 30 minutes to complete will take more than 2 hours with a Bosch. If you're paying by the hour, it adds up because once they unwrap it & do the repair, it then takes time to re-wrap it. Also parts are more expensive because they come from Germany.

Not sure if any of that is true but it's what I've been told by my appliance repair guy who is very reputable. Kitchen Aid is what my guy recommends & he has no affiliation with any manufacturer.

Dishwasher Repair: If anyone likes to tackle some of this on their own this place is a great resource: http://www.repairclinic.com/Home.aspx

Tips on repairs and any part you might need. I broke the legs off my dishwasher moving it once and I've also replaced a pump in my washing machine.
