I am with mattchuck2 on this one. If I have done a drop before and snow conditions are good enough and I am familiar with the area enough to know if something bad might be poking through, I just give it a go. I think there is something smooth looking with just skiing up to something and dropping it without stopping. It shows a lot of confidence.

Though overconfidence is not good. Obviously, if it is a first time drop or an area that I am not familiar with how changing conditions may effect the landing area, I will ski up to the lip/hit, take a look, then back back up a turn or two.

Regardless, I have never dropped things very well if I was not in motion and approaching the hit/lip rather than just launching something from a stand still. I can launch something from a stand still but it definitely isn't as easy when you are not already in motion.
