As a start and I know there are not many of them near the resorts, but there are some; all Best Western's are dog friendly

The Paw House Inn in W. Rutland, VT is great. I think its about 30 minutes from Kilington. They have a fenced in play area with agility equipment, kennels for the dogs when you are out skiing, and your dog can sleep in your room with you too.

PS - Excellent breakfast!

Johnsons in Twin Mountain, NH (near Bretton Woods) and the Mt Madison Hotel in Gorham, NH (near Wildcat) are both dog-friendly.

Also, there are selected dog-friendly rooms at the Common Man Inn in Plymouth, NH.

And many, many, more all over the place, so please help us out and pin down the geography a bit.

As a side note - "kennels for the dogs when you are out skiing" sounds fantastic! Any places like that around NH ski areas?

If you're heading up to Sunday River, we've stayed at a great place called Paws Inn in Bethel. It's right on Rt. 26 just before Telstar High School about a mile from Bethel Village and 10 minutes from Sunday River. It's a small B & B with an outdoor run and barn that the dogs have access to. The dog sleeps in the room with you and the owner takes care of the dog during the day while you ski. Our dog loves it as he has the owner's dog and usually a few others to play with when we're skiing. Plenty of land behind the inn if you want to take your dog out for a run. Plus you get breakfast in the morning. Check out at http://www.pawsinn.net/

Thank you for all of the great advice. We are just starting our research. We are pretty open to location. We hate to leave the princess behind.

I know the owner of Paws Inn in Bethel, Bailey. Great woman, chat her up, she's done a yeoman's job in getting her place up and running over the last years, LOTS of character, no BS. . She has limited room space , so call early, reserve, and enjoy not worrying about your pupster.

Just a heads up if you want to take your dog out on a romp yourself from Baileys place...... she abuts one of the last 2 working dairy farms in Bethel. If you or your dog don't understand the terms pasture-patties and turn-out pasture, ask Bailey. Cows are heavy with calf this time of year, no dog chasing is the rule of thumb.

Bailey will be able to direct you.

We will watch out for those pasture patties. Sounds like a great place.

We stayed at a Residence Inn on Exit 12 south of Burlington VT Thurs nite that even had dog walking trails. Not exactly on the mountain but not a bad haul either. Breakfast buffet was pretty good, included "dinner" was more of an appetizer event, hot tub could have been a few degrees warmer-but not bad for 2 bedrooms for $149. Room was pretty nice and had a full kitchen.

Check out VRBO.com. (Vacation Rental by Owner)

Listings by owners that permit pets have a little paw icon next to them. Many of the units in ski country rent by the night or for the weekend.
