Where: Concord River between Lowell Rd. in Concord, MA and Rt.225 bridge in Bedford, MA.

Distance: Between 4.5 and 5 Miles.

Weather: Hot, Humid, Hazy, slight wind.

Description: After meeting a couple friends and dropping off a truck at 225 bridge exit point, we made our way back to the busy put-in off Lowell Rd. Concord River is pretty much a low moving pond, very shallow, stained and not somewhere you would want t take a dip.

Paddled throgh Minuteman National Historic Park and Great Meadows National Wildlife Refuge. Very steamy paddle, my wife and I on a tandem sit-on-top kayak and friends carrying coolers and such in their old Coleman canoe.

Saw a couple Night Herons, many turtles and plenty of Great Blue Heron hunting in the shallows or taking flight when paddlers/boaters got too close.

As for traffic, their were plenty of paddlers, some bass boats and a few jetski (only below 225). All the motorboats were very courteous to the paddlers. At the takeout point we were also entertained by an Asian couple who were taking their motorized rowboat out of the water by cranking the boat onto the trailer while the trailer was OUT of the water. So they had to lift as the other cranked really hard. I guess they didn't want to get the trailer wet...

All in all an easy, leisurely paddle that took about three hours (w/lunch added in) to do. Very hot, but the occasional breeze felt good. Not the cleanest body of water, but considering the area it is pretty natural still...

Sorry no pics, forgot camera.

Nice TR. It must be frustrating to paddle on such a hot and humid day and not wanting to take a dip in that murky water. I need to get my boat wet soon. Yesterday would have been a great day to paddle. Hopefully the end of this week.

It was hot up there? Was this Sat or Sunday?
Yesterday was gorgeous and in the 70s all day - I went for a nice paddle out and forgot my sunscreen - ouch.

Lots of kayakers out yesterday.

It was Saturday and yes that murky water was not very inviting - unfortunately...

Hopefully will get my single Necky out soon.
