Pleasantly surprised at the conditions...obv all man-made PP, a little stiff in the morning, but by 11am everything softened up, especially anything in the sun...got there about 8:15 and got a prime 'ski-on/ski-off' parking spot...it was nice and quiet early on and picked up a little as the morning wore on...chairs were mostly ski-on all day though
they've done a great job, considering the weather, and the open terrain all skied very well...the snow was stiff early, but no ice to found anywhere...they take good care of their product...looked like mahican was getting the guns, so that should open shortly...every time i go up there i think about the potential of that place...it's nice as it is, but they have some woods that would ski great if they allowed it and another peak that is east of the main peak that goes unused, although i don't know if they own that land...basically they use about 1/4-1/3 of the potential terrain on elk hill for the ski area
run of the day was tunkhannock, which is usually bumped up, but because it is still 'early' in the season (i think it's only been open since last weekend), it hasn't gotten too bumped up yet...seems like it's been getting a lot of snow made on it and the headwall was holding it very well and just starting to bump up a bit...just kept getting better all day as the sun kept it soft...i saw a dude on a sit-ski absolutely ripping it several times...quite a sight
knocked off about 2:30, grabbed a cheeseburger from the caf for the ride home and called it a good day
