another good day at elk...got stuck parking in the lower lot due to racing today...lots as full as i've ever seen them, but still rarely a wait for a chair...conditions were somewhat variable, but overall very good...groomed terrain was very nice...seneca finally opened top to bottom, ungroomed, and although was posted as thin cover, was in great, great shape since it saw very little traffic, a fun narrow shot under the double chairs...susquehanna was just perfect...lackawanna headwall was ungroomed and held unforgiving ice bumps, but tunk was in much better shape, with just a little ice in the troughs...chippewa also ungroomed, mostly soft and starting to bump up and get fun...4/27/85 Frost Ampitheater proved to be a good companion for the ride

quick shot on the way out

you should've been there Saturday, snowed off and on all day with heavier snow squalls around 4. Carving was great and the bump runs became fun with the coating of new snow. I liked the little baby bumps on Chippewa too, was good practice for the others.

I was there all weekend for said races. Friday was actually the best day as that is when the snow fell (Thurs overnight). Elk skied very well this weekend and I thought the crowds were quite manageable. Sunday morning Tunk was great after they dusted the bumps Sat night. Love the mountain but can't stand the Elk Wagon and the base lodge could really use some modernizing.

Yes, I always feel like I'm about to get a steel rod through my head when I ride it. Midweek you can park in the upper lots and ski to the lodge. They reserve this privilege for season pass holders on the weekend.

Alex, i was going crazy when i saw Friday's webcam pic's and checked the afternoon weather reports. Once again as with the previous weeks Thurs snow, accuweather and the weather channel dot com got it wrong. The forecast was calling for 41º highs snow to freezing rain/ice/rain so i didn't go, was too late when i found out otherwise.

Is Elk on the radar for this week's Wed/Thurs storm?

I haven't been feeling well today.

I don't know, weather dot com is calling for "Heavy Snow" Wednesday...anyone up for carpooling? I'm around 19118, not too far to the mid-county interchange Pa Tpk.
