Was originally planning on going to Platty today, hope to hear some great reports from their. Again my body decided for me that I would only be doing half day at Elk.:) Tried sleeping with help of lots of wine but no luck. Finally fell a sleep from 5am to 8. So I knew I head to PA got their at about 12 in 1.5 hours from my place( I like this). Easy drive all highway except for MTN road. 45$ for 4 hours awesome. Lots of nice crusing blue runs kind of like Mtsnow but not as big. Snow all day crowds bad but doable. No single line maybe 15 minutes line but conditions were packed powder so it was worth the wait. Didn't like the shuttle to get lift tickets, now I now for next time. Only 2 time in PA in last few years I'm sure I will go back. Close to home, I also like going through Scott PA. :)

Glad you had a good day. Did they get the fresh snow, too? I don't even know where Elk is to be honest with you.

Not being able to sleep when you want to wake up early to ski SUCKS. Luckily as I am getting older am I starting to fall asleep somewhat more easily.

If the red wine doesn't work you can always try 4 melatonins, 4 benadryls, xanax, ambien, half a bottle of vodka and a little sniff of heroin next time :flag:

Sounds like a great party night if I do that I probably just go to a call service lol. Elk is in Pennsylvania about 30 20 miles North or Scranton easy highway driving which my old car tired body liked. Snow all day at Elk they get some lake effect and 1000 vertical probably best of PA kind like Mount snow lots of blue crusing and some nice diamonds but nothing as steep as Plattekill which is a lot like Berkshire E from what I hear.

Elk is the best mountain in Eastern PA, period. They have the best terrain, usually have at least two bump runs (sometimes more) and the best conditions in Eastern PA as get twice as much natural as any other mountain in Eastern PA. It seems to snow 4+ inches every time I go there. Some complain of the slow lifts, but that helps keep the crowds down on the trails and the conditions good throughout the day. Really the only thing to complain about is they forbid any tree skiing (they could have some great glades if they wanted to). About a 45 minute extra drive from Philly area past the other Pocono mountains but easily worth the trip.
